Hello everyone!

So I have finally decided to go ahead and grow some herb. However, I won't be able to have a nicely sized grow room. Living with parents is a bitch and a half, and while my mom is an understanding woman, she would definitely have an issue because of the legalities and such. Being a 20 year old college student, my choice is grow in the dark, or don't grow at all..

The latter is not what I'd like!

So, I'm going to be performing my first micro grow. :) I am still drawing up the plans and gathering all materials, but the jist of it is simple. I am looking to be growing at least two plants at a time, and it will be grown inside a homemade wood cabinet. Nothing fancy, just plywood. It will be roughly 4' length by 2' deep by 5' tall. Maybe slightly taller. If my parents ask or start getting nosy, I will let them know that it is a parallel computing project (I'm a computer student), and they will leave alone. It will be a locked case.

As for what I will be growing, I am hoping to grow some nice Haze or even Kush. I am not expecting huge yields just yet, but I will use everything I've learned to get the best yield possible. Like I said, at least two plants, technically 3. One mother, one flowering, and one vegging.

So far, here is what I am expecting to do:
- One spot for growing clones and hosting mother.
- One spot for flowering, and on for vegetative.
- DIY Tube carbon filter for smell scrubbing.
- Exhaust fan through filter. 4" duct fan.
- One exhaust fan.
- Locks.
- Mylar.
- Sweet Cheeba. :)

Keep posted, the plans will be drawn up soon.

Subbed mate! Sounds like youve thought it through - keep us up to date with this :)
What lights will you be using? And type of exhaust fan? Just curious :P

Subbed. This is a pretty good sized stealth grow. You might want to use an HID style light (mh, hps) opposed to CFLs. Unless your grow areas will be much smaller. What size area for the veg? flower? mother?

You should get something like this

Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more

Should be pretty easy to light proof.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been on to respond to all the comments. I was thinking of going CFL, but I found a nice 150w HPS security light for sale at the local Home Depot for $52 bucks. That will definitely be my vegging light.

I am still designing, and trying to work out any kinks before final build. Measure twice, cut once, my motto :)

As for the exhaust fan, I am hoping to use a 4" duct fan with a homemade PVC carbon filter. Intake will probably been the same, or maybe two 120mm PC fans. We'll see.

Drawing specs coming soon!

That's a pretty big cabinet for stealth =), how are you going to partition your box, veg vs. flowering chambers? both vegging and mothers/clones can be done in one area btw, good luck, hope to see pics soon too.

Well ladies and gentlemen, after long consideration, I've chosen not to go with a micro-grow since it would cause some issues for me. Sorry guys. :( However, I am doing a closet grow. I figured it would be stupid to grow in my closet at first, but then I figured I can just go ahead and put a lock on the door, and make another excuse for why I have it locked. (Not like the 'rents go in there often at all). If a mod could be so kind to possibly change the title to:
"(First Grow) Stealth Cabinet Grow - CFL + HPS".

Yes. I've decided to go ahead and grab that 150w HPS. :)

Here's my starting space. Let me know what you guys think?

i think that the space is useless without something in it, and that you should make quick work at taking care of this problem!

So a little update peeps!

I came across an awesome score! Found a brand new 400w HPS ballast kit on eBay for $39.99 + $16 shipping :) Comes with everything, except an enclosure which I will take care of. At home depot, they have a 400w phillips HPS bulb for $21 bucks, so I'll be ready to grow very soon.

Sorry it's so slow moving, I'm a part time working college student, so money is tight for the stuff I need. Keep updated for the delivery :)

Sorry it's been so long for an update guys...

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to go through with this grow, at least not in the way I wanted. I'm going to have to switch to a PC Grow, or something much more stealth, and smaller. My parents informed me a few days ago that we are moving within a month or two to a new house, so obviously I can't carry a huge box with plants in it.

I'm really upset because I know micro-grows obviously yield very little compared to growing close to full size, but this way when we move I can just pick up the PC case, and move everything without anyone thinking twice.

So, i'll be continuing on here, but it will be a PC case grow now.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the wait.

Now would be best to hold off till you move. Gather necessary supplies now, but do n ot start the grow. get your lights, Mylar, and maybe even a hydro tub if you can.

If you wait, you will be better rewarded. Quote me on it

I want to grow in one of those double door stand up office cabinets. What bothers me is that I want more depth than 18". Can someone advise on something I could buy, that looks like it belongs in an office, that is deeper. I'm estimating 4"across and 72"high.

Also, I plan on vert scrog. Can someone give me an estimate of plant quantity and seed type for these approx dimensions. All cloning, mothering and vegging will b in another location.

UPDATE:

Alright, hello again everyone. Sorry it's been a bit since I've updated, but the grow is FINALLY getting started. I was able to get ahold of one seed (Yeah I know, sucks) from a friend of mine. I've been trying to get a hold of some bud with any seeds in it, but have found nothing. (Good and bad :smoke:).

Anyways, so I've decided on a PC grow since I am a computer guy and have at least 8 cases laying around. I went with the biggest one I had currently, and if this goes well will be ordering a cheap full tower off Newegg or something.

So here are some pics, I don't know what the quality of the weed was, but my buddy said it was pretty good dank. I'll be growing with 3-4 CFLS, and will be taking a cutting to make some clones in case it is female. :)

I'm using the paper towel method to get my seed going, and will update once it sprouts, or if it doesn't.

Guess who just let out a root?!

As you can see, I got a root out of the seed, and have successfully put the seed in a plastic cup, and it's on it's way. It's sitting in the PC case, with the lights on, and a fan blowing air around, with a plastic zip lock bag sitting over it to keep moisture in. :hello::smoke:

I do however, want to make sure I'm doing the right thing, should I have my lights off, and the fan off or no?

you should use mylar. Tinfoil is a no no, it will cause hot spots and burn your plant. Check out my grow for a better example :) Mylar isn't too expensive and you can find it at any hardware store.

Day 2:
24/0 light cycle.
No watering yet.

So, another update everyone! We have a sprout! Since I am using a pretty good fan from my old PC build, so I am now keeping the fan off for half the day until I can get a dimmer to bring down the power. It seems like the soil is losing some moisture, but I know I shouldn't water it for a bit yet, but what do you guys think?

As for the aluminum foil, thanks for pointing that out blackweeds ^.
I know it's bad, but I wanted to line the case with something so it wouldn't leak, etc...I will be going to Home Depot sometime this week to get some mylar, a PH meter, timer, more sockets for a few more CFLs when the plant is established. Also, I used so no-name soil because I am trying to be as budgeted as possible, so I have to see if it has nutes, or needs them.

Future Plans:
- When the plant is established, I'm going to put it in a bigger, longer pot in order to LST it.
- As I said above, definitely get more CFLs.
- Variable fan speed knob.
