Don't know if this is the right board but...for all of you who have grown a fair bit of plants from seed, who are some of the better "underdogs" of the seed brands out there? We all know Barney's, Greenhouse, Cali Connection, etc but what about the lesser known brands? Ever get a strain from one of the "lesser" breeders that blew you away?
I'm not going to suggest anyone just yet as I am a newbie, but I want to get a list going for future reference so I can have some seeds in mind for future grows. Right now I have some seeds I am working on that were freebies from my first order, along with a Female Neville's Haze. My order also had some Female Pure AK and Sweet Seeds Green Poison. The freebies were CH9 Afghani Milk fem (one planted), CH9 Jack33 fem (seed was damaged, did not germinate), and some Seedsman Afghani #1 (2 of 4 did not make it).
So what are some of your favorite "underdog" brands/strains?

Anything from female seeds, definitely. I did a run with them and know of numerous experienced growers on here who love em. You'll find some real keepers in pack. As far as fems go, theydoes em right and you won't have to worry about herms. I'd say the top two of theirs may be the White Widow x Big Bud (her best seller) and the c99. Pretty much anything from them, you'll find at the very least one real keeper in each pack of 5, most likely more.
I know I'm repping them hard, but you really can't beat their quality for the price.

The Female NH is my youngest plant so far, but it broke surface in three days from the time I dropped it in water (it sank in 16 hours) and then the soil. It is 2 weeks old today and looks the best of all of my plants, healthwise, but I made some mistakes with my freebies.

anything by Mandala
Yeah, been noticing that in my research. I have them on my list, particularly 8 Miles High, Satori and Hashberry. Any other recommendations?

KOS, Sure Fire, or anything from Sannies. or even HGS.
this really should be in the seedbank forums..not here in breeding.( just an FYI... maybe PM a Mod and get it moved .. you'll get better responses in seedbanks.)

I'm growing Hasherry and Blueberry for the first time and both of those smelled strong already pre-flowering. Beautiful plants!

Agree with virtuoso Female seeds has great gear and you can NOT beat the price. Just got pack of Pure AK from EDiT for under $20 shipped and got it in 1 week to boot.

I haven't heard of any other growers popping Seedsman... I'm growing their hazes, out of 11 I have successfully germed all of them, and seen good growth imo. You can check my journal to see for yourself, all of the hazes were from Seedsman, through Attitude.

I had some Seedsman Afghani #1 freebies, all of them died (but it was my fault, light burn).

Popped one of them on the 9th, it broke soil on the 13th. OK growth right now but the Nirvana PPP I planted on the 16th (broke soil on 20th) is already bigger than it with a thicker stalk. I did use different starter soil though, not sure if its that or just genetics.
