Rotten weed?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by PplAreStrange, Feb 22, 2012.

  1. Ok, so I've been smoking for a couple of years, but I've never encountered rotten weed... Until now. I'm completely clueless on what to do here. It smells terrible (like cat piss), but it tastes ok (I smoked it before I found it was rotten). It didn't get me high at all, besides a minor buzz. My question is, is there any way I can reverse this? Can I unrot rotten weed? Hahaha

  2. Try alchemy! Haha nah, umm... The THC may still be able to be saved! If you make Cannabis Oil then it will take it past 160oF (The temp necessary to kill microbes) You should be fine. Make some brownies! And get fucked up!

    Happy tokin!

  3. You can't unrot bud. But take into account the tangerine dream I grew was some of the most terpenoid and citrusy bud I grew; my mom called the smell cat piss. I don't think cat piss constitutes mold.

Moldy bud will smell/feel damp most likely, and be squishy without a "spring" back like good bud (if you poke a correctly cured nug, itll give a little then pop out, not sag and stick to itself). If you have standing water somewhere(fridge drip tray?), or a basement, or BOTH!, smell it. - itll resemble moldy buds in a jar

You can also see mold; itll appear as brown, white, orange, or pink, patches that look fuzzy; when you poke them they'll smush downwards. When you pull apart buds the mold will stretch and you'll see the mycelia hanging from on end of the bud to the other. Really bad rot will have the interior of the nug moldy, while slow or late set rots will appear more patchy.

If you determine your bud is moldy, you can QWISO it (go to the harvesting and processing section) to make hash and salvage your smoke. Personally I only make cannaoil out of hash coming from moldy materials; theoretically the Isopropyl will kill all the mold, but perhaps not spores - its always better to be safe than sorry.
