Man in Wheelchair Killed by Man Driving Under Influence of Marijuana

  1. I had a rant the over day in a thread about stoned driving, seriously its not fucking necessary. No matter how much you've smoked, how long you've been smoking etc, WAIT TILL YOU GET HOME FFS. i see people cruising the streets smoking blunts, its reasons like this that its illegal.

  2. In the man's defense, who drives a scooter in the road? R.I.P though because that is really fucked up.

  3. ^^ True that, roads are unsafe enough as they are, especially here in the UK, if he was sober it could of just been a tragic accident, but the second they find paraphernalia in his car he is fucked and it pisses me off that people do such stupid stuff

  4. That area of Evansville Indiana has a lot of old age communities. There are old people everywhere, and it's only a few blocks from the VA, too. If a driver is paying attention, and not inebriated, spotting people in wheelchairs crossing the road shouldn't be hard. This was nothing but a senseless tragedy. :(

  5. my heart breaks for the families.but why oh why are the media so hypocritical? how many times do they publish a story about poor aunt mary who was not famous, was not rich, was a stand up american, yet no news attraction.she died of prescription drugs whether intended or not,,even as prescribed

  6. i didn.t finish.....no news unless cannibas is involved,or their so xalled illegal drugsg..you get my drif token it ggoooooddddddddd

  7. Honestly it isn't really fair to use this as an example of cannabis killing people. I mean how many innocent people every day are mowed down by drunk drivers? Anyway stuff like this is why I'm always arguing against stoned driving. I mean sure it's safer than drunk driving, but it's a PR nightmare and it's still arguably more hazardous than sober driver.

  8. sad but honestly a sober person could have done the same thing if it was dark out

  9. I live in a semi rural area that is very dark[no streetlights]area. I see people walking and biking at night without lights or reflectors and usually wearing dark clothing. How someone could be so clueless as to endanger themselves in this way is beyond me. It scares the shit out of me to think I could have consumed 2 beers and hit one of these fools and get 7 years for vehicular homicide, when in reality it would be more their fault than mine. That's why I never drive after drinking or smoking...

  10. Theres not much you can say. Marijuana is certainly not to blame...these two men involved in this accident are both idiots tho.

  11. It really doesn't matter who, or what, is to "blame". The man in the wheelchair is dead. And the young man driving the car? Well, his life is over, too.

  12. It's horrible I agree, very tragic, but "under the influence" is too vague. He could have smoked earlier in the day, a day ago, or even a week or longer & if arrested & tested he would be "under the influence".

  13. agreed regardless if it's dark out. not to be an asshole where's all the articles about sober people killing people in wheelchairs...oh wait they don't got printed because there is no political angle to play.

  14. I agree with that 100%. And I agree it isn't fair. But until we have a tool in place that actually measures just how much under the influence a person is, it's better for us to just stay safe, and stay put while we're high. The alternative puts everyone at risk, and the results are tragedies like this.

  15. I'm not saying this to be rude, I just don't want anyone getting into trouble, and I do not want my thread closed because I think this is an important debate. So please try not to mention other drugs in your posts. Pretty please.

  16. While things like this are not actually the reason it is illegal, it is how the government gets ignorant ass scared people to agree that it's a good idea to keep it illegal.

Next time you want to run over someone in a wheelchair take valium first. They won't give a shit then.

I fell sorry for the old man but for all the people against driving blitzed. I drive better high when sober im scared of making lefts and ften end up turning at the worst times and barely escaping the cars going strait and almost hitting people crossing but when high im calm and can take lefts no problem and when its too bizy i just wait till its yellow wen im sober im trippin like im takin too long or the people behind me are mad or some stupid shyt and i almost fuk up. So you cant say its bad 4 every1 if it wasnt for weed i wouldnt be able to drive as calmly SLOWLY and safely as i do.
Ps i have pretty bad eyesight and dont wear my glasses unless i desperately need to this is alot more dangerous than driving high so is eating or drinking real hot cofee for obvious reasons.

  18. Fuck pointing fingers at other people or other drugs. I hate stoners that drive high. They advocate like its a proven goddamn fact that driving high is safer than driving after drinking a can of soda.

And then when some stoner kills someone while high, advocates do the usual dance: "he may have smoked last week, no evidence he was high at the time of the incident", blame the victim, point fingers to other drugs, and give anecdotal evidence "proving" that driving high is a good idea.

It's like arguing with fundies. They ignore any sound argument (e.g., it's totally unnecessary to drive high, operating a vehicle while in an altered state of mind is always a risk) and they smile and keep toking.

  19. I drove home 30 miles on the highway last week after smoking a bowl of sour diesel and some hash with my hydro supplier. I kinda had to tho cuz the wifey was getting pissed that I was gone so long. I do believe that driving high is dumb tho. Personally I think I can drive perfect high but unless I absolutely have to go drive I won't while I'm baked!
