Besides, this study is evidence that your common sense based idea doesn't actually play out in the lab. I used to think the same thing... before I learned how to efficiently roll. It's tantamount to poorly packing a bowl anyway... bowls will burnoff too... that's why you said "a correctly used bong"... the same is true for a correctly used joint.
BTW the smoke in the room is mostly from exhaling... ya know. |
Perhaps I don't roll joints very well but I know for a fact that I use less weed when I smoke my bong, and I get higher for it. If you snap the bong there will be no lost smoke. And the type of paper makes a big difference as well. Some papers burn very slowly and will go out if you leave it for a while, others (especially thick ones) will burn themselves almost to the roach. Plus, the papers themselves produce very little smoke. Try lighting a paper on its own and you'll see. The majority of smoke coming from a joint is cannabis smoke; smoke that could have been entering your lungs.
And as for smoke coming from exhaling, this isn't really true as exhaled smoke is much less thick than fresh smoke. A bong session will produce much less of a smoky room than a joint session with the same amount of weed.
