i just looked through this whole thread and was amazed how no one said anything about that coil phire. that is ripped from illadelph and absolutely disgusting. also it saddens me that people get ripped the fuck off from gypsy head shop owners and refuse to accept it. if you are dropping 500 on a bong you should research a shit ton. most likely had you done so you would have ended up with an sg. as long as your happy i suppose....

i got a new glass on glass 1' Phire yesterday for $119 with a single perc, ice catcher and no ash catcher...and ash catchers can be expensive.

I take it you own a Phire and feel affronted? We're speaking specifically about glass here and glass made in China is mostly cheap trash. They're mass produced by people without the skill or technique of American blowers. Annealing is often over looked making most China glass liable to break incredibly easily.

The vast majority of high end glass is produced right here in the United States. Sorry if that's a problem for you.

No, I do not own a Phire. I just don't understand why you can't just let people make their own decisions instead of trying to justify your OPINION by talking down to everyone.

And it's not like were hammering nails with these things anyways. Who cares if it's annealed or not. If your clumsy and break stuff all the time then yeah maybe you should spend the extra money.

I've been smoking for over 22 years and I have never broken one piece of glass.

I think you should smoke a big bowl and chill out.

First of all, it is not my opinion that Phire is low-end and uses glass imported from China. That is fact. That is not the same as talking down to people... that is talking down to glass. If people can't separate themselves from their glass purchases.. that's a personal problem.

Second, you obviously do not know what glass annealing is. It is an absolutely necessary step to ensure a piece is safe to use. Poorly annealed glass could shatter right in your face.

Third, people can make their own decisions and are free to. They should not do it without being properly informed though.

No one is stopping anyone from buying Phire, I just hope I can stop them from buying it without knowing exactly what they are getting... and that is a cheap piece that is mediocre quality at best. The glass thickness will be inconsistent, the percs will be mass produced outside of the country by laborers paid almost nothing, and the piece will be far less durable than a similar piece by a more reputable company or artist.

If you're fine with that... go grab a Phire. If you're not look elsewhere like EHLE, ZOB, MGW, SYN, US Tubes, Illadelph, ROOR, Medicali, PH(x), Alpha Tubes, SGW, Honalee, Trikky, Local artists, etc.
