Stargate Universe

Never been a fan of Stargate.. I always thought it looked a bit cheesy, but I just watched the Stargate Universe premiere, and it was fucking awesome.

I was really impressed with this episode. Interesting dynamic, and I even liked the cheesy video game kid

Re: Stargate Universe

Stargate Atlantis blows Stargate Universe out of the water, but They have made a terrible mistake not bringing the cast of Stargate Atlantis in on Universe. The writers maybe should think twice about there decision's not to bring them in.I mean when I watched the premier of this new show and didn't hear or see any humor at all and that sucks, hopefully they realize they need to bring the cast back before the Universe takes a header.

And SG-1 blows the socks off Atlantis. Oh well what can we do.

Everything that has come after Season 8 of SG-1 has been nothing but downhill from the awesomeness of the original seasons.

I cant get into the characters of SGU at all i will probably not watch it much more unless there is more Richard Dean Anderson.

Always need more RDA.

Re: Stargate Universe

I've always been a die hard Stargate fan, but my personal preference is Stargate Atlantis... after season 7ish of SG1. I tried watching Universe recently but literally had to force myself to watch the first episode... even made it all the way to "Light" but every time it's been more of a chore than a desire to watch.

Imo this is not only the worse addition to the Stargate series, but quite possibly the worse television series presently on air. The progress in each episode is mind-numbingly slow, five episodes in and the Stargate hasn't really been used, and it's way too serious. As far as characters go there's no one terribly interesting short of maybe Rush, not to mention the bulk of the "main" cast are children which was a ploy to bring in a younger audience.
It's absolutely horrible and I pray it doesn't make it beyond season one.

Thank Hathor we have another SG1 movie and Atlantis movie to look forward to at least.

Re: Stargate Universe

I love SGU! I loved SG1 and SGA. Each series had its own theme to it. SG1 started out as a kind of culture show, exploring the history of man and every culture that we have had. The war with aliens and everything was just bonus and then it turned out to be the only way to keep the show going.
SGA was more about exploring the ancient technology and fighting with the Wrath.

SGU is something entirely different. Its more realistic and a lot darker. They took out much of the humor so that it wouldn't seem quite as cheesy as SG1 and SGA. So you can't really compare the series. In my opinion, at least so far, SGU is the best that the Stargate writers have done.

Re: Stargate Universe

I'm loving SGU as well. I've been a SG fan since the orgional movie, and back when it was a series on Showtime. Tonights epispde is the best of the season.

Dr Rush needs to smoke a blunt or two, that guy is way too high strung. I'm really enjoing the cameo's of General O'Neil. He cracks me up. I'd love to toke up with Eli, but I have the feeling he'd never shut up.

Destiny is freaking huge man. Nice ship design. Love the technology that we've seen so far. For me, this is the best Science Fiction on TV right now.

Re: Stargate Universe

been watching this as well, i'm certainly digging what's happening so far but they seem to be taking the storytelling in a very different path i'm used to. maybe i'm spoiled by the flash! Bam! way they spiced up SG1 and SGA with all the action scenes, but i'm kinda getting a little bored with some of the scened in SGU.

still, i've been faithful so far, i'm going to give them the benefeit of the doubt cause i get the feeling that they're gearing up to really tell a whopper of a story. (and i can't really blame them for taking their time in the telling of the stories either, i mean, all new cast that we have to learn to understand and all that jazz... it's gonna take some time.)

still, my fave character so far is Greer. LOVE his character (and he's kinda cute too.) though Dr Rush is kinda annoying in that prissy, self-absorbed kinda way (which is what i think they were aiming for.)

though i'm gonna say it,... WTF was with the last episode?

The last episode was crazy. It kept me guessing the whole way through. And those things that attacked them were awesome. Maybe I'm just a little sick but when they went right though their bodies I was like "Holy shit... Hell yeah!"
