Re: Now long have you been smoking? Please answer

Started when I was 16, didn't become a regular/daily smoker until I was maybe 18...

It's taken a toll financially and on my family life more than anything. My parents know I smoke and are ok with it to a degree, but it's awkward to be high around them and I try not to let them see me smoking. I spent a lot of money over the past few years on bud, really couldn't afford to keep it up working at a dead-end job.

I do think that my memory is a bit fuzzier regarding times when I was smoking a lot, but if I was smoking a lot it was to cope with stress/depression/dissatisfaction over my life and this world. I don't know if it's ok or not to use weed like this, I can definitely make an argument against it, but I would defend it by saying that those stresses were there before, I haven't had any desire to turn to harder drugs or to get Rx pills, and it hasn't affected my health to any serious degree.

If it weren't so damn expensive, if I didn't have to run around talking to shady dealers who I can't trust to get it, if I didn't have to hide from cops and society.... I think it'd be a different story. Most of the problems weed has caused me have been a result not of the actual drug or intoxication, but of prohibition law and the inflation and the shady system of distribution it necessarily creates.

Besides this, I'm also still happy smoking weed because it doesn't take the same toll alcohol does on my body or mind or lifestyle. My family has a history of alcoholism, and if I've got bud, I have LITTLE TO NO desire to drink. Maybe I'm predisposed genetically or psychologically to addiction or dependence, but I'm glad I started smoking bud before I could get a taste for tobacco, and before I really got into alcohol.

If you've been smoking a long time though, I do think it's worthwhile to occasionally cut back or quit for a while, for tolerance and as an act of mental discipline, to see just how accustomed you are to being stoned and how hard it can be to stop. Don't let people tell you bud's not addictive. It certainly can be. But the withdrawal isn't half as bad as anything else, and smoking daily doesn't kill your body like drinking or smoking cigs.

Re: Now long have you been smoking? Please answer

this is a good thread for ONE of my first posts.

I'm 27, been smokin' for daily for 2 years.

The posts of the thirty-somethings still smoking, while they're raising families, and doing a decent job is very encouraging to me. I aspire to have the same thing. I know of a handful of families like this now that I think about it. They were pretty underground to escape the stigma.

Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to not have to when that day comes around.

Re: Now long have you been smoking? Please answer

I'm 19, I've been smoking since I was around 14. So thats about 5 years, I have not noticed any side effects, smoking just relaxes me and opens me up to creativity. I usually smoke atleast once a day usually at night before me and my buddies go out to skate and film for the night. Smoking has helped me in many ways. I have a.d.d and been tryed on many medications to help me with that. They all have gave me awful side effects such as anger and depression. Smoking is the best for me to focus on a subject. My whole family used to be anti marijuana until they saw what it has done for me. I will continue to smoke for the rest of my life.

I'm 20, been smoking for 5+ years. I go through periods where I only smoke once or twice a week, and some where I smoke multiple times a day. It just depends on my desire and financial situation. I haven't noticed any long-term effects yet. I'm a bit of a space case but I always have been

I'm 22...been smoking for 2 years. Daily for about a year. My mentality has changed...in a good way. I think much more. I like to smoke and watch documentaries, read and discuss things. My buddy is 22 as well...been smoking since he was 7...daily for at least 6 years. He is the smartest person I know. I refuse to believe cannabis can make you lazy or a "burn out" you are a "burn out" whether you smoke or not

Re: Now long have you been smoking? Please answer

ive been smoking for three years, with some breaks. pretty hard for the past year though, i dont think ive missed more than 20-30 days of smoking since last november. i'm 18 years old, ive gotten in alot of trouble with the ganj, including one possession charge. i do think it has a negative effect on my memory which has gone to the shitter haha but i dont think thats because it really fucks my memory up too bad i think its just because im so damn high i cant remember details, which i like. for the most part though its all positive, it can always make a bad day good and a good day better!
