| GhostGuy's Pickup Thread (Quality photos!)
Hello all, I'm GhostGuy! Thanks for stopping by my thread. I'm a relatively new medical marijuana patient. I've had my reccomendation for about a month now. In this month, I've sampled some excellent bud from Long Beach's finest dispensaries. Aside from smoking bud, I also enjoy photography. I've been an amateur photographer for years, and hope to someday make it a career. I figured I might as well mix my love of green with my love of photography. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Now, enough words. I know what you came in here for. Enjoy! Also, keep an eye out for my reviews on www.MarijuanaReviews.com. I'm submitting them as fast as I can, and hopefully they'll get posted. Banana Lime, one of my favorite smokes. Amazing. ![]() And here's a closeup of Green Wreck ![]() And now for a few random photos I took. ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, I hope you enjoyed my first post here. I'll try to update this thread regularly! |

| Re: GhostGuy's Pickup Thread (Quality photos!) Yeah, the name put me off at first (Sounds like the kind of name someone makes up), but looking as awesome as it did, and being from a reputable dispensary, I took a shot on it. I'm glad I did. If you ever get a chance to smoke Green Wreck, go for it :-D

. They really trap the smell. I just wish the opening was a bit bigger, I can only store my smaller buds and pre-broken stuff in there :-/I'm very high, and very creative right now, so I decided to take some macros. Enjoy! ![]() It takes a bit of work to make things look a bit nicer. If anybody is curious, here's the process I go through when I have time. For macro shots, I inspect the buds I have for a particular strain. I inspect them up close and try to determine which nug looks the best (I'm going to get a loupe soon). Then with the best nug, I look even closer to find which side of that nug looks the best. I take into account hair, trichs, texture, color, general health, etc. Then I try to spend a couple minutes with a pair of tweezers, to get rid of the little imperfections (But I usually get lazy and forget this step). After that, I decide where I want to take the picture. If I'm lazy, I'll just use my mousepad. Black, textured background. Looks nice usually, but can be distracting when using flash. If I'm a bit less lazy, I'll get out a sheet of paper and set up a little background with it. If I'm feeling downright perky or creative, I'll clean off a shelf in my book case. I love to use the subtle woodgrain as a background. Or I'll just set up clean white paper in the book case after clearing it. The white back panel and glossy veneer make a decent lighting box. After that, I set up my camera on a tripod. I'm using a Nikon D80 DSLR Camera and a Nikkor 60mm Macro lens, on top of a Manfrotto compact tri-collapse tripod. For macro shots, I typically get as close as I can get to the bud. Usually about an inch or so. I use my external flash unit, triggered by my camera to light the scene. After I take the shot, I import the photos into Lightroom. It's very important that I shoot the photos in Raw mode. Since I shoot in raw,I have much more control over post-processing. I can crop the photo (Which with macro shots I almost always do, especially with bud.), adjust exposure, play around with saturation and much, much more. I rarely do anything too extreme, unless I'm going for a particularly artsy look, and it's fairly obvious (Look at the picture of the small bud on the turntable. Last picture in my first post.). Instead of making them look crazy and way better than they are, I try to just make them more true to how they look in real life under ideal lighting conditions. This usually involves boosting the saturation, vibrance and clarity by just a few points. It's much easier to spend less time behind the camera and just spend a couple minutes tweaking it in post. But as I become a better photographer, I'll be able to get better results behind the camera ![]() If anyone has any questions about anything, feel free to ask | |
