Old clan that have been around since 2001. I signed up in, hmmm, 2004.
edit: Oh, how to join a clan...
Just ask really. But you need to find the clan that suits you.
In general clans can be broken into three categories:
1: Win at all cost.
You'll be expected to play at least 4 days a week, and there are serious demands of skill. If you got anything less than a 2:1 kill:death average on public servers, forget it.
2: Winning is good, but social is better.
A bit more relaxed. Main emphasis on fun, and doing ok in matches. Not the best, and not aiming to be, but far from the bottom of the barrel.
3: Social is king, aka Weekend warriors.
Skill is more or less irrelevant, getting along and having fun is everything.
Ofcourse, this is not to say that die-hard clans do not get along internally, they do. But in such clans there is pressure to always be in the top of any server you venture into, not to mention winning any match you play. Some can handle that, but it comes with training and practice. Requires a lot of teamwork and dedication.
Seek out a clan in your age group and on your level of skill, and you will have great fun. And by no means try for established hardcore clans without first gaining a reputation as a skilled and more importantly mature player. That is, no misbehavior or arrogance when playing public. Most real good clans have nothing but contempt for public-heroes that think they are gods gift to the game that whine endlessly when taken down. Such soon get shown how the game is supposed to be played, at knifepoint
Yes, clanplayers are better...
