I picked ATI, but i'm becoming more of a fan of nvidia, I havn't played on one, but the next video card I get is a nvidia..I got a radeon 9550 256mb..cheap..but works on the older games, but the new ones, this card doesn't even stand a chance..
damn my mobo having the 4x agp..where my card can go 4x/8x speeds..not getting the full potential of my card ![]() but hey, it runs wow decently |

ati did great with their new releases of the HD series cards but nvidia is just blowing them away stat for stat especially with the 8800 and 9300 releases. i would go nvidia unless the motherboard you have supports crossfire and not SLI

dual nvidia cards technically run on SLI not crossfire. Last edited by lastsamurai : 03-04-2008 at 10:41 PM. |

I am going to have to go with nVidia here, and yes I have had cards with both chipsets.
The reason I am going with nVidia is for the driver stability issue. ATI's drivers are shit, and I have had issues with ATI drivers with 2 different ATI cards now. I will never buy another ATI video card, sorry AMD.

I've always used ATI for some reason, I don't know. Well, I might have to take that back, let me check what chipset I have in my laptop.

how is the phenom? im doing a new build pretty soon but going for the 6400+ BE cuz it's better for oc'ing but for a while i was tempted to just get the phenom 9500. i know since it's quad-core that it's much better for multitasking but not so much for gaming.

The word down the pipeline is that this is going to be a moot question in a few years time. Intel has been making big moves in integrating graphics processors into their CPUs; and the results are nothing less than astounding. This is actually what precipitated the merger between AMD and ATI, ATI realized that it's days were numbered, and AMD realized it needed some more power to catch up with Intel.
Where does this leave Nvidia? Some think up a creek with no paddle, but only time will tell. |

I have another(X2 6000+ OC'd front bus, , 2gigDDR2, dual 8800gtx) as my gaming computer. the phenom sets don't over clock well. And for most games, they aren't even ready for a quad core. Made my mind up rather quickly. better for two powerful cores than to spread resources out too thin. Also the MB are limited with the new chipset, so you have to do some research before considering it. At the time i couldn't find one with two Vcard slots within budget.
