Good luck to The Lakers on this road trip. Gotta go thru Norleans and Houston. Rockets game is going to be nuts. It wont end there.
Also i hope Kobe gets MVP. Duke is mad nice. Lebron is dope too though, but the West is too crazy right now and kobe is leading it. Im also HOPING Bynum can come back in time and be alright and back in shape! Ariza is crucial too

Up until Lebron did it, Kobe was the youngest to 10,000. I think he was the youngest to 20,000 also....which Lebron will probably break. If I had to choose between Lebron and Kobe for MVP, I would take Kobe everytime. Its not enough just to throw out the hypothetical, 'Which team would be better without said player'. Obviously the Lakers would be better without Kobe than the Cavs would be without Lebron. Both players can create their own shot out of nothing. Both players have uncanny court vision. Both players, without a doubt, make their team better. Golfers can atest to this..... you play to your surroundings. If your playing with a scrub who duffs every shot, you will have the tendency to play shitty. If you are playing with someone who crushes every shot and they are all straight as an arrow...then you will usually play at or close to your best. Lebron and Kobe are the latter..... the young kids playing with them are almost forced to bring their game up to another level. Kobe is an all-around better player. Better free throw shooter, 3 point shooter, more clutch. But when it comes down to it.....Kobe is a way better defender. Lebron is good, mainly because he is huge and extremly athletic......that will allow anyone to be at minimum, a 'good' defender. But Kobe is relentless. He constantly guards the opposing team's best player due to being the 2 guard. He plays shut down, physical, energetic defense that can easily hold a great player in check. Whats amazing to me is that he still has the stamina to be an outstanding offensive player while playing intense defense. I would have to give the rebounding edge to Lebron....if only for his size and strength. I can imagine jumping up for a board with him.....I bet he is a fucking rock. When Lebron comes down the lane, body parts go flying off of him and dudes get displaced. I can't remember the last time the competition for MVP was this close. Whishever player gets it, they deserve it. Both teams will make the playoffs so that shouldn't have anything to do with it. If one or the other team missed the playoffs, the player on the playoff team should win the MVP hands down. Any team can miss the playoffs without a superstar. But if the Lakers make it to, and lose in the Finals...and the Cavs lose in the Conference Finals...that should have nothing to do with who gets the award.

i duno y so many ppl are on Kobe's dick, LeBron, LeBron, LeBron for President, LeBron for Mayor, LeBron for MVP. did anybody WATCH THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR?!?!?!??! up until the finals, lebron james pretty much singlehandedly dismantled and upset 1 (arguably 2) GREAT TEAMS!!!! you cannot tell me anybody in the NBA can get to the basket like he does, because he's so big, so fast, so strong, and so skilled, its ridiculous. its not even fair. id LOVE a lakers vs. cavs matchup in the finals, but at this point im thinking that MAYBE the rockets have a shot (they go for 22 in a row against the lakers sunday night) but im liking Phoenix, ive always been a fan of theirs based on how smooth and fluid they play the game, and they have DJ strawberry warming the bench ( UMD BABY )
but im saying its either the lakers IF they get gasol back healthy and shit, but otherwise it could be ANYBODY out of the west. im sure its the Cavs out of the (shitty) east. watch lebron take on Boston's "big 3" (or the old 3 in my opinion) and come out King James still Would be awesome finals matchup: Phoenix vs. Cavs Retarded matchup the media will try to plug : Lakers vs Boston (whoooo cares) Probably will be : Houston/San Antonio/Phoenix/Utah/Golden State/Los Angeles vs. Cavs |

Top 5 Reasons Why Chris Paul Is NBA MVP
In only his third year in the league, Chris Paul is in the running for the NBA MVP Award. NBA.com caught up with Hornets TV play-by-play announcer, Bob Licht, to find out what makes CP3 qualified for the accolade. Licht provided the top five reasons why he believes Paul should be the 2008 NBA MVP. 1. LEADERSHIP It’s quite a statement for Chris Paul (CP3) to be included in the Most Valuable Player debate at the age of 22. He would become the youngest to ever win the award (Wes Unseld, 1968-’69 Baltimore Bullets) is the youngest MVP winner of all time at 23 years old. Byron Scott pronounced the Hornets as “Chris Paul’s team” the day he stepped on the court for the first time in his rookie season and he hasn’t disappointed. Paul has earned such incredible respect from teammates young and old that he has the rare freedom to both bark at those who run a play incorrectly, and high-five them after successful execution on the floor. He is that unique player who wants to take the game-winning shot, but who also has the mentality to defer to the hot hand who can win it. Paul leads by example on game days (he’s the first player on the floor for pre-game warm-ups). He leads by example on off days (he’s the first player to arrive at practice). He also understands the concept of team unity. During a Pacific Northwest road trip he arranged a bowling outing for the entire team during an off day. OK, CP3 is a member of the World Bowling Congress (he was featured on the cover of their magazine last year), sports a 200 plus average, and is clearly the best bowler at the alley that day; but, his ability to bring his team together (even those who don’t care for bowling) is in itself a unique skill. Paul’s off court leadership also extends well beyond sports. He has been heavily involved in helping New Orleans recover from the worst natural disaster in this nation’s history. His Katrina recovery participation has been as consistent as his play on the court. Among the programs he has been involved in: *Donated a new basketball court for Sara T. Reed high school in New Orleans *Donated $5,000 towards a holiday toy giveaway for underprivileged kids in the Crescent City. *Donated food baskets to New Orleans families. *Participated in several Habitat for Humanity and Hoops for Homes projects throughout New Orleans *Involved in the NBA’s Read to Achieve program in area schools. 2. DEFENSE Paul has a league-leading 165 steals and is also No. 1 in steals per game (2.70). Those numbers are jaw-dropping for a 22-year-old in just his third-year in the NBA. But, when you look deeper and discover he has at least one steal in all 61 games played this season (he has a 65-game streak going back to last season) there is cause to pause. He had a franchise record FIVE steals in the first quarter and SEVEN in the first half against Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks on 2/20 and finished with an NBA season high NINE (third most in NBA history). Four games earlier against Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns he grabbed EIGHT. He has managed at least two steals in 47 of his 61 games. He’s quick. He’s smart. He has cat-like anticipation. Only one point guard in NBA history has won Defensive Player-of-the-Year – Gary Payton (“The Glove) in 1995-1996. Maybe it’s time to make it two and call Paul “The Mitt”. 3. DOMINATION There are obvious numbers that tell you how incredible Paul has been on a nightly basis: 1st in steals, 2nd in assists, 3rd in assists to turnover ratio, 9th in free throw percentage, and 18th in scoring. But, CP is bidding to become the first player in NBA history to average 20 plus points, 10 plus assists, and 3 plus steals per game for a season. For the time being he is attempting to become the first player in 15 years (Tim Hardaway, ’92-’93) to average at least 20 points and 10 assists in a season. In other words, two-time MVP Steve Nash never did it. On 11/6 in the city of angels Paul set a Hornets franchise record (and NBA season high) with 21 assists in a victory over the Lakers. In the Dallas game mentioned above he recorded 31 points, 11 assists and nine steals…just the fourth player in league history to score at least 30, dish out double digit assists and grab at least nine steals in a game. Two are in the Hall of Fame (Rick Barry and Larry Bird). The third will be (Scottie Pippen). He’s scored 40 plus points three times and has at least 20 plus points and 15 plus steals in a game eight times…more than the rest of the league combined! 4. EXCITEMENT The mere fact that somebody, somewhere keeps an alley oops stat that shows Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler have combined for the most alley oops this season indicates that the Hornets point guard plays an exciting brand of basketball (and that some people have a lot of time on their hands). Earlier this season a woman at the New Orleans Arena told me that she wasn’t really a basketball fan, but she was a Chris Paul fan because of the way he “flies down the court, darts from left to right, always seems to have the ball in his hands, and reminds me of a fun video game.” He’s turned himself into a very good shooter (.487 FG/.365 3FG), making him almost impossible to defend. He splits traps, hits open shooters, penetrates the lane at will, hustles after loose balls, and on the defensive end makes ball handlers very uncomfortable. He does all of that with a smile that seems to suggest he knows something you don’t. At 6-0 175 Paul has surpassed Allen Iverson as the best “little man” in a game dominated by “bigs”. 5. WINNING After drafting Paul fourth overall in the 2005 draft the Hornets more than doubled their wins from 18 to 38 in his rookie season. They were destined for the playoffs as season ago before massive injuries (a league-leading 133 starters’ games missed) derailed that hope. Still, Paul kept the Hornets in the post season hunt until the final week of the season and New Orleans won 39 games. This season he has led the Hornets to their first winning season since Byron Scott took over as head coach (2004-2005). In fact, they are currently two games ahead of the pace of the 1996-1997 Hornets squad that holds the franchise mark for wins in a season (54). A season ago the Hornets went (0-11) against the top three teams in the western conference. This season they are (7-3) against those teams, including a heart-stopping overtime victory against Dallas to snap a 21-game losing streak to the Mavericks that started in 2000. New Orleans has more wins against the wicked western conference (29) than any other team. They’re also 20-10 on the road after winning just 15 away from home last season. As for head-to-head competition, Paul has gone a stunning 6-0 against the other icons at the point, Steve Nash and Jason Kidd: CHRIS PAUL (4-0 RECORD)VERSUSSTEVE NASH29.0 PTS 18.8 11.0 AST 10.84.5 REB2.54.0 STL0.3 CHRIS PAUL (2-0 RECORD)VERSUSJASON KIDD29.0 PTS 11.0 9.0 AST 7.56.0REB7.56.0STL1.5When the Hornets entered the all-star break in first place in the western conference I asked him how the Hornets could possibly top their first half. His answer, “we’ll be better in the second half,” tells you everything you need to know about his confidence, attitude, and desire. He’s all about team first. He’s the catalyst for the 43-20 Hornets which makes him an elite player, on an elite team. In my opinion, the most qualified candidate to win a tight election as NBA MVP is Paul (Chris, not Ron). http://www.nba.com/features/cpmvp_080314.html |

Im not really looking forward to tomorows laker game. Without Gasol its guna be a bitch. Rockets are good but lets see what happens to them in the playoffs.
All i can do is wait for my lakers to recover. Fucking Injurys, they get almost everyone. Its going to be interesting to see who wins the MVP We def need Ariza/Bynum/Gasol out there to do some damage. I also LOVE how ppl sleep on Ariza, esp suns fans haha.
