Speaking of Boston and Detroit....they meet up tonight in Boston for the last time until the ECF probably.

Tonight will have a huge impact on who gets game 7 on their home floor...assuming Detroit can make up the 3 game difference (which they will).

PHX plays Denver on espn, Houston goes for 16 straight.....good night of hoops ahead.

the nba officials ruin like 99% of every game, and in most instances the better team will barely pull off a win. i've seen more kicked balls and flagrent fouls, that 2 years ago would have been called (kickedballs) and flagrents that would not have been called, and would have been considered a hard nba foul... i hate the nba officials, and i hate how everyone says kobe is the MVP,

last year was his MVP year, but that queer david stern gave everything to thestate of TEXAS. dirk didnt do what kobe did last year, 81,62, and 14 other games of 40+ points... either way i hate makeup calls, and kobe leading the mvp race is BS, its lebron and CP3 all the way. i love kobe, i just dont think he's done that great this year and the numbers correlate to that.

i wish david stern would just fire all the officials and hire the college refs- they know what they're doing.

^^ the "touching" rules are so stiff now. a lot of these veteran players played during an era where some of these fouls would never be called. now players are using it towards their advantage and love to make the contact. hence mello and iverson accumulating nearly half their points on free throws alone.

mcgrady is playing one of the best seasons in a while. mutumbo is really stepping up and making the extra effort to fill yao's spot. may be i was judging houston to hastily

30-6-5 arent good numbers? What else do you expect? They actually got some talent in L.A. and Kobe doesnt need to put up 35-40 per game....although he will if the situation calls for it. The lakers have the best record in the West (which is stacked with talent) and Kobe Bryant is still the best player in the NBA.

I think its pretty much a dead lock between kobe and lebron, but I give kobe the edge because he does his thing out west.

The numbers between to two are close but it makes a lot of sense....Lebron is doing a little bit more because he has a little bit less.

lebron carries his whole team. the lakers have some awesome players besides just kobe. this above anything is enough to say the lakers have an edge over the cavs any day. when bynum finally returns.. i don't think the cavs really have a chance.

player vs player.. kobe has more experience.. he plays in the toughest conference of them all.. i would give him a slight edge too even though lebron is having a hell of a season himself.

ya you make valid points, but the only reason i think he'll get it, is because its a gimmie, and his team has the best reccord in the toughest conference, he got screwed last year.. last year they gave it to dirk; just because he had the best reccord in the nba (IMHO)

dirk averaged 24pts 8 rebs and 3 assists *06-07

when kobe averaged

31 5 and 5 *06-07 and is known to be a beast on the defencive side. dirk couldnt gaurd a stationary object

to be honest, if u take kobe away this year, the lakers would still be in the top 8 or 9, and could make a legitimate push come play off time (especially if they had paou)

i think CP3 is the most valuable to his team, and makes everyone else better, unlike lebron who takes the ball outta his team mates hands every possible chance. (then again if i had vajao, and benwallace i'd keep the ball too)

07-08*cp3's #'s 21pt 11as and 4reb not to mention he's shootin 50% from the field..

either way i think david stern should be fired, he's doing a horrible job. the officials that he swears by make me wanna watch soccer, hockey, or the wnba rather than nba. (the 3 most boring sports imho)

I dont know about that one man....its only like a 4 game difference from 1st to 10th in the west. No Kobe almost certainly means no playoff chance for the lakers. Even if they were lucky enough to make the playoffs without him, they couldnt win a 7 game series against any of the top 8.

Golden State is a badass team and they are fighting just to make the post season this year, as is Denver....both of which have a solid group of guys.

Kobe does more than just score points and defend, as does Lebron. Those guys are floor generals out there...they keep their teams together and make the other guys play at a higher level. Jordan provided the same lift for Chicago and there really isnt a stat for that kind of thing.

I think the Lakers would be lost without Kobe and the Cavs would be lost without James. Again, Kobe gets the edge because they play out west where the talent is just unbelievable. The only two eastern teams that could make the playoffs in the west would be Detroit and Boston, and even those teams would probably be 5 or 6 seeds there year.

The lakers have a tough stretch comin up and if the they can hold that #1 spot when its all said and done, they should give it to Kobe.

Indeed...

As a Piston fan, my hope is that the Western teams beat on eachother in 7 game series after 7 game series, that way the team that makes it out of the west will have nothing left in the tank.

The WC playoffs will be some of the best basketball NBA fans have seen in years....maybe ever.

Im pullin for a Detroit/LA rematch. Its a toss up between Detroit, Boston, and Cleveland...but Detroit knows there time is running out. These guys have been to the ECF 5 years in a row with only one ring to show for it. They still have probably the best starting 5 in the NBA and their bench is deeper than years past.

Either way it will be a good playoff season this year...I cant wait.

Rockets won their 20th in a row tonight, beasting it up. I don't think we're title contenders, but we've been playing damn good without Yao and i'm glad people are actually recognizing us as a good team.
