Is it not true? Attatchedness of people distracts from the focus of man's thoughts, and yet, Attatchedness itself is the fueling of man's thoughts. The few people who can control and understand "Attatchedness" are great. Learning how to break the bond of love with ease will enable you to do great things.

I have no idea where this is going. The closest thing I can relate to when I wrote this is Zen's belief of non-attatchedment. This was just on my mind...

Hate and destruction beget hate and destruction. So love life for being what it is, and embrace the simplest of joys.

love only hurts when one of the people involved is acting selfish.

If both are totally giving of themselves then neither is really thinking about themselves more then the other. It's a balance this world will never see.

Budhism says that love will eventually leads to suffering like all forms of attachment, and you can only reach enlightenment(sp?) when you are free of all bonds to the material world thus freeing yourself from all forms of suffering.

Cottons is right, it can go both ways but it will eventually end like all things.

My theory on this is as follows; the bodhi (somewhat of an apprentice buddha) chooses the most difficult of paths. (because enlightenment isn't obtained easily.) While the bodhi puts himself/herself beyond material things, they discover how beautifull it is simply to live. And learn to love life with all their spirit.

"Happy indeed are we who live possessing nothing. Let us feed on joy, like the shining gods."

When the bodhi reaches final enlightenment he/she will have ascended to the state of buddha. The final truth that is devoid of emotions such as love or hate.

If you're still interested read up on the Dhammapada.
