All good, except this MCS nonsense. There is no spoon, no matrix, either. The "pawns" said the same words, in the same tones, because they were talking to Carissa. SHE is the common factor. SHE controls that stuff, too. As do we all.
Our thoughts and desires express themselves in the world around us. Our fears and doubts will keep coming back at us, until we expunge them. The only way round, is through, as the scientologists say (except with a whole different set of motives). Carissa removed her limitations over time, because her intent was good, her mindset, her goal, but not until she was ready, or else she would have moved to Florida the first time around. Bugs? Some people wouldn't have given that a second thought. But we all have different challenges, our own room 101. Some might call them "tests", and blame the higher self. They would be right. If my Will is stronger than yours, you will adapt to my universe, and visa-versa. If we are both strong and share the same goal, our power is increased, and so on. They teach this kind of stuff at universities these days. There will be data to back up the blue feather experiment, no doubt. At one level, the universe acts as a simple reality creation machine, and we're all at it, whether we like it or not. "Science" is more and more proving the nuts and bolts of all this stuff; energy and mass interchanging, matter popping in and out of existance, particles travelling faster than light or being in two places at once; that sort of thing makes scientists curious, but it's old knowledge. I'm straying... Basically, most people act like robots because they are programmed, by their televisions, to be robots. It's not the matrix, just basic psychology. We all change, every day. Me, I like to be the one who decides exactly what the changes will be, and so I binned my TV many years ago. Step one: Get rid of your televisions. You'll feel better for it. -mu |

) I've noticed that my interest in the arts has increased dramatically. I now have the itch to draw and write poetry. I've had the "itch" for a while but it was always just easier to push the button on the remote. BOOM!...brain off! I've (re)discovered the value of a pencil, a pad of paper, and free roaming imagination. Who knows what's next? ![]()

a product of convenience, causation, dependance, sure. and if there is a factory controler single mind doing it all... well, they're pretty fekkin stupid (or far more inteligent than i can fully comprehend, in which case it would be for our benefit again via challenge), and so, it's not really anywhere as much a concern as it could be percieved when first coming across this new awareness of these mechanisms of coersion, or, "control" if you want to lend more power to it. i don't. these are just factors, just inputs that are not absolute, they do not control us, we have more control over ourselves than the coersive inputs. peer pressure. hehe. that's right, school, TV, media, employers, collegues, etc and the echoes of them chinese whispered by many people all around allowing themselves to be coerced more, they've all been at it, all been doing "peer pressure". knowing this takes away it's power over us. psychology it definately is. the "matrix" metaphor is always not taken far enough. there's more conspiracies here than can feasably learned in one lifetime.
this is not just the way our society is structured. In capitalist modes of production, alienation occurs. I would recommend reading. ![]() what to read though... thats always the challenge once you begin. Peter Kropotkin seems interesting too. (funnily enough, i also agree with modern_caveman) Last edited by Digit : 11-08-2006 at 05:56 PM. |

Generally speaking, there is only one actual truth. Perceived through many perspectives and filters, yes? Some are just more distorted than others. So I guess we agree on that. At least that was what I understood from your reply.
I could have gotten in wrong however. I could have read it as me beeing someone that requires evidence, I cannot even begin to comprehend the levels of self-delusion some require to claim something as real. What interpretation is correct? edit: (TBA)

Well good. But I must admit, it was a trick question.
You had to agree with one part of it or another, without precluding the other. That would invalidate your agreement. Both terms were actually part of the same argument. And it is the same argument I have been pushing since many, many posts ago. Truth is objective. Not subject to likes or dislikes, though subject to experience that differ. Truth just is. And we can only find it through objective research. Meaning recognized as such evidence.

When I find myself believing a thing to be "truth", I generally move myself into believing the exact opposite to be true. This can take time, but we have that.
If it passes both tests, it could be true, and deserves further examination. -mu |

wow. crazy how this concept has been coming up again and again for me in the last month. I haven't been on grasscity for years, and the day I check it out again the stuff I have read on some of the posts has been really well, for lack of a better word, coincidental. I haven't even smoked in months (need to stay clean for job opportunities) but logged back on since i landed something recently and am gonna toke it like mad right after i piss in the cup. Anyway, I have been able to look back at all of my problems and see how my thoughts, fears, and attitudes have basically preceded each "event" as though i really were dictating, or creating what was going to happen. This stuff really is incredible. Thanks for posting this I miss tokin it up with all of you, can't wait to use those THC receptors in my brain once again.
