finding peace in life.

jesus. i've been thinking a lot lately.

i think in the last like, five seconds, my entire idea of what i want to strive for in life completely changed.

i'm assuming that i'm not gonna get hit by a bus or something when i say that if i can look back at my life and make peace with the bad, and be thankful for the good and just make peace with it all in the moments before i die, i will die successful. truly happy.

it's like, if i live the life that's been labeled as perfect, i will never make peace with myself, because i'll feel like my life has been wasted. i've never wanted that life, honestly, but now i'm sitting here and wondering what kind of life i'll be happy with. i'm terrified that if i die tonight, i'll have nothing to look back on except slaving away on schoolwork in hopes for a future i might not live to see, years of bulimia for my teenage life, way too much cocaine and self pity, and all the things i could never really say.

i know what i'm trying to say, but i can't put it into words. i guess i'm just trying to say that i feel like i've suddenly changed my ultimate goal in life from just being able to be happy to being able to live a life that i can make peace with in those last few moments, whenever they might be.

so what about you guys? do you think we can ever really make peace with ourselves? what're you looking for in life?

Re: finding peace in life.

i will be at peace if i ever find the right girl for myself and find a place in the underground/indie music scene, in other words make a band and make some amazing music that i can get high and zone out to and have my mind blown. when that is accomplished my spiritual life will be fulfilled

Having a deep Psychedelic Experience can help if you want to think about things like this and come to a stronger conclusion .......................... weed just makes these questions go round and round for me but im always thinking regardless .

Re: finding peace in life.

Don't get so caught up in the past man. The past is the ruiner of souls. The present is the soul shaping itself. The future is seeing how well the soul shaped itself through the present. But then again, the present and future are only figments of our imagination, they don't really exist. Today is yesterday's tomorrow. And it will always be that way.

Uh, sounds like you have to forgive yourself of what you've done, and move on. Realize that all that has been done could not have been done any other way. There was an intelligent underlying design behind all the actions you have taken up to this point, and that applies for everyone and everyday. Good times are around the bend. Learn to never expect anything, that anything that will come to you will come to you in this moment. Begin to realize the beauty of what is here and now, rather than what was and then or what will be and there. You are here, and you are now. You can't change anything except yourself. Get in tune with the sun.

I find peace everyday through nightly meditation. Drugs can never replace meditation for me, because it is the pristine awareness and heightened sense of self that builds on every aspect of myself through the day. I don't "look" for anything in life, for I have found that anything that must be found shall be found effortlessly. It's all already within you, it is just about realizing just that. Find your core, your basis of being and work and flow out from within there. We can find peace with ourselves if we realize that the peace has always been there all this time, just as everything else is already there. Tap into yourself and you'll see it for yourself.

Re: finding peace in life.

It must be thinking kind of night...

I too sat and thought deeply about my life for a little while tonight after a rather unsettling argument with my boyfriend. I drove to my favorite smoking spot, toked a small bowl so that I could easily clear my mind. I started thinking about my priorities. I'm not an angry person, but I'm known to fly off the handle pretty quickly. But I finally decided that I didn't want to live my life angry anymore, and just focused very hard on the peace I felt when I was calm and relaxed. From now on I'm going to focus on that instead of being so angry. I'm really excited to get started actually, I love being peaceful so much more

So all you can really do is think about who and how you want to be in life, and focus on that. Look towards the future and let go of the past.

Re: finding peace in life.

Would taking a break from Cannabis help let go of the past?

Sometimes I feel like Marijuana makes me think nostalgically, whether it is about music or the way I used to have fun....... it makes me miss the old days kind of but i love getting lost in my thoughts.

I made a topic in this a while back but I questioned if meditation is better with a sober/clear head. ?

just some ideas

Re: finding peace in life.

You may meditate in anyway you wish, but for me the sober/clear head is the most effective way. My mind goes nuts when I get baked, constantly thinking, over-working and over-processing information is the way it tends to go. When I enter a meditative state, it is like getting high but 5000 times clearer and transcendental. I am able to control the flow of energy a lot more cleaner without getting too carried away. Everyone is different.

this, this is exactly what i need to do and exactly what i've been telling myself to do but i never quite can.

i will someday though

maybe ill try the whole meditation thing--it's been suggested to me a few times now.

it's awesome that you're so in tune to yourself, that's something i can really look up to and admire in a person.
