Alcohol and tobacco remain legal, along with many other "non-drug, drugs". But why?
At first I thought about the alcohol prohibition and thought, it just created crime so they legalized it. Makes sense right? Well not if you consider all the other drugs that are illegal, marijuana being #1 on the makes no sense list.
A mixture of coffee and tobacco every morning makes work just a little more barrable don't it? Consider loosely these numbers: Take the pack a day smoker as your average smoker and you have someone who consumes 1.25 cigarettes per every hour, taking into account 8 hours of sleep for a normal adult. Combine that with the couple of coffees a day, and you cannot deny these people are on a "high" all day. A high that is comparable to cocaine in it's effects, and one that makes a person, simply put, not care as much, and feel good.
Let's say now that the average person who smokes, also drinks on a weekly basis. Even if only a drink after work, or a few after work on weekends. The thoughts of these people are drowned in substance inhibriation no?
All the thoughts that may be depressing, upsetting, or questionable, just don't matter.
I see this a positive feature to our current society in terms of worker productivity, but I also see as the same things that lead to the societal issues. Violence, aggression, irratability, and adiction and crime.
So are we just distracted so much with drugs given to us, many of us don't see the problem with the capitalist driven society?
Thoughts about this. Don't argue minor details, just the overall picture and why you agree or disagree. Also sorry about the length.
