Re: Listen!

to stick with the point, when i made that post i was specifically thinking of how to encourage an opening of awareness, specifically thinking of situations where upleasant disturbances arise in our human inter relations when we dont listen deaply. not just listen with our ears, but really allow all information to casually slip on, so that you can fathom the truth of someone, and not be taken in by our masks.

Re: Listen!

Can I ask you what your sig means cos mic?

Are you impling that because Bakunin and Mo Zi supported self reflection and authenticity to ones self that they were better than Marx and Lao Tsu?

If so I agree, equality through liberty(anti-marxism/anti-confusism) is always better than equality through restraint(Marxism/Confusism).

"better"? depends on one's own priorities (prioroties? no spellcheck here), i guestimate.

but i suppose it is for me too.

with marx there's a bit of a disconnect, too distant and rigid to marry the idealism with the reality. with Mo, there's an greater emphasis the individual experiencing and living on cosmic love.

Lao did well to formalise understanding, but bakunin reccognised the human is as any other informal animal, and is not it's natural state to conform to formality.

(hehe, see what i did there?)

i cant claim it's an air tight "If A is to B.." scenario, but it makes me smile.

I like Bankunin more than I like Marx, same can be said for the other to.

Guess they fit my priorities, even though I could care less for living on cosmic love, but I think I think individuality is the bases of where all new ideas and should not endorse groups ideas.

Groups create stigmas and stiffle new thought, only way to think truely open is to think for yourself.

Bankunin also had it right on religion, he endorsed moral teachings but shunned it as actual historical data. Which is how all religion should be looked at. The only reason why I don't support militant atheism is for that exact reason.

Probably the most valuable advice given today-
at least in my perspective.

I have a feeling Lao-tzu would have something interesting to say about subtlety, however I'm not sure of what it would be.

Re: Listen!

to further develope the premise in this thread...

all the abhorent actions...

... they all stem from toxins.

a toxin is only a toxin if in a toxic quantity, a quantity out of balance.

toxins need not be left to mere chemistry understanding.

our thoughts and words can be toxic too.

and if someone is spitting toxicity, think on this...

...demonising or chastising of them will be less likely to be seen to be the thing to do once u see deaper to underlying whatever is true.

when u understand the pains that cause the actions, u are not only better equiped to behave compassionately, but also empowered to better heal the illness. for their benefit, and everyones.

Re: Listen!

Cos Mic , you get me thinking
So if toxicity is merely actions/chemicals etc. out of balance, can there be "good" toxins?

Re: Listen!

i'll go with answer "no."

toxicity generally occurs outside a safe window. obviously too much of anything can become toxic. homeopathy works by giving you just enough of a toxin to stimulate your imune system, but not so much it over empowers it. toxicity can also occur from dosages too low to activate the imune system with some substances.

but generally, trying to sum everything up as either "good" or "bad" i have come to learn to be particularly unhelpful mostly.

lets, uhh, ...lets say there are beneficial quantities to most things in the right circumstances.

some things though, i struggle to find any circumstance in which there's any tangible benefit at any dose.
in imbalance we are taught the harshest lessons.

there can be "good" lessons from experiencing imbalance.. but really... its not something one aught to ever consciously seek out. least i'm not seeing any circumstance it would be waranted.

ps, for those interested in further reading on toxicity, particularly its place in a philosophical and spiritual context, look up "amas", the hindu word which gets translated as toxins
