Do you believe in reincarnation?

I'm curious to see what others think about it. I'm not looking to spark a debate or philosophical inquiry, but if thats what comes of it, then what the hell.

I am undecided for several reasons.

No, for the simple fact that the population keeps growing at a faster rate than people die. And even if you count animals the math dont add up.

Now if it did exist.......i want to come back as jessica alba, just so i can masturbate, haha.

actually I read a study that stated that was a perfectly normal and rational thought.


But back to topic. Good question. As a Christian I would have to say yes I believe in it, because if I didn't how could I call myself a Christian. It would be a fundamental belief

I'm Wiccan and reincarnation has ties with wicca. Although it's an open religion and people are free to believe what they want and not be a part of what they don't want.. most of us believe in reincarnation.

Reincarnation has a basis in all living things being divine. Most forms of reincarnation believe that we're all a part of the divine or a part of who/whatever diety is believed in. So essentially, Wiccans believe that we're a part of the goddess and god. To Explain Stoned budda's post... whenever someone/something is born a part of the divine breaks away into this living thing. When we die, we either reincarnate or become one with the source again.

actually reincarnation is no where in christianity besides for christ himself...
i think the o.p. is talking about where our "soul" or spirit or essence goes after we die...as in everyone..not in heaven but in becoming a being again

but yeah...i believe in reincarnation

That's a great point becaue most religions with reincarnation believe that sometimes you become a guardian over a living being between incarnations.

Debate I was saving for later.

Something I read a while ago attempted to explain the math of, essentially, where new souls come from. Basically, in very short, new "souls" come from a type of "life force" being transfered from the universe, to Earth, to plants, to animals, and finally - to us. ~shrug~ Explaining it in detail would take too damn long, and would essentially bring forth the question of "What is creation?"

I do include myself in my opinion. Setting aside whether or not reincarnation exists its very comforting to believe in it. Most people, myself included, would like to think that theres more out there than just this life and that we will always be here.

I believe...

Since "I" am "I" in everyone, my "re"incarnations are every being there is, was, or will ever be. When (kinetic being) dies, his experience is over, and what is left is the experience of my other bodies, i.e. you, and my state of non-experience, which actually trancends even the notion of "experience/existence and non-experience/non-existence." Therefore I (kinetic being, the body, the ego, etc) do not reincarnate, but "I" am equally incarnate in everyone, at all times.
