Yeah, they came 'bout 10 minutes ago.

I did my best to humor them and be polite, even offered to let them step in briefly (It was rather windy outside, and the phone rang so I didn't wanna just leave them hanging...)

It was a wife (who said nothing but hello) and her husband, who was rather nice...

He quoted me some scripture... and to be honest, I quoted him some Hendrix.

I even got pamphlets to read, ^^

So the thing is, I don't want to debate the validity of their religion... I'm just wondering, exactly how many of the door-to-door people do you blades at GC think are truely well meaning, and are trying to spread their message because they honestly want to help people?

And no, you can't tell me none of them are like that.

And then, how many are just trying to spread their religion for the sake of it? To further it? To push it on people?

I know there's people with BOTH intentions, but how many of which?

I think the only way to figure that out is actually hanging around in there circle. People are people no matter if your Christan, Catholic, Atheist, Jehovah there's people only out for themselves and people who are truly dedicated to being a decent humane being. My daughter asked me "dad is there really Monsters" I tell her "yes there is really monsters but not like monsters in the movies the real monsters are us, people". Just a couple of months ago a homeboy and his new borne son was at a friend's house when two people walked in and killed him and shot his new born son in the head. There's fuckin monsters all around us the trick is how do you know which person is the monster. The third Eye Or great judgement of character!

the thing i respecty about jehovahs is that they arent afraid of what people think of them. they have more courage than most people whether its for the right reasons or not. think of how much crap they get all day going from door to door- they somehow made it to your house anyways.

btw im not a jehovah's witness in case anyone is wondering lol

We haven't had Jehova's come to our door ever I think. And if they did it must've been before I can remember. I think most of them are well intentioned. They believe their religion is correct and are trying to save people in their eyes. Although I'm sure some are in it more for the brownie points than actually trying to help people. Like "Oh, look at me God see I'm converting people can I get into heaven?" and then the good ones who are like "I'm trying to make sure you get to heaven because I would not like to see a fellow human suffer in hell"

Aye, it definately takes a lot of courage. This guy seemed rather humble about it though, like he knew that I could just tell him to piss off at any time.

I respect anyone who has that type of detication.

I have essentially no personal connections with Catholocism, but I've always wanted to visit the Vatican. Hundreds of people living in and mainting a rather beautiful city, with amazing history behind it, all for their faith... Even for a non believer, I would imagine there would be a very powerful vibe from being in the Vatican.

As far as the Witnesses go... if this were my own house and no one was still sleeping when they came, and I didn't have bongs and weed laying all over, I would have invited them right in to my bedroom, where I have my stereo. I would have let the dude quote all his scripture, then I would have had him listen to some Hendrix on a vinyl.

His music was electric church music, and he was electric religion, in his own words. I am but a humble believer ^^

I've never encountered them before, but if I ever did, I'd probably hear them out. If I didn't agree with what they said, maybe I'd tell them why just for the sake of conversation. The thought of people going door to door like that sort of makes me want to be nice, because I know they do probably catch a lot of shit doing what they do.

But if they turned out to be pushy and offensive like most Christians I try to talk to, it'd be futile to make an attempt at an intelligent conversation, so I'd politely send them on their way.

Whenever they knock on my door and I open it up to see them standing there, I literally flip them off and shut the door in their face.

jehovah's witness isn't the same thing as a traditional christian. and like most christians you talk to, or most people who were raised in a christian home and think theyre better than you because of it- cause those are different too

but it is interesting to talk to witnesses, i remember last year i was hanging out around my old school with a friend and a mormon missionarry was walking around handing out pamphlets, i didnt take a pamphlet, but i called the guy over and we actually talked about it, we asked questions back and forth, and even though in the end i didnt agree with him, i felt like i got something out of the conversation anyways because i had to think what exactly do i believe in regards to his questions in order to be fair- i didnt ask questions trying to be a dick, i asked honest questions looking for honest answers

im glad youre so sure that youre right and theyre wrong that you dont even have to worry about what they say. it must feel good to be that sure of anything
