Humor and Laughing

What causes us to think of something as funny? or humorous? When during creature development/evolution does this take place?

And if something IS funny, what causes us to react the way we do? to laugh? if you think about it, all laughing is, is making a weird noise which is the universal symbol for showing that you think something is humorous. sometimes, this urge is UNCONTROLLABLE.

Where did we get these 2 traits? how did they evolve to what they are now? How could these traits help at all with us climbing up the food chain (survival of the fittest)?

Not only is laughter universal to us bipedal simians, many other mammals laugh as well. Maybe not as vocally as we do, but still.

Tickle a cat or a dog, and you got the picture. Different expressions, but the same feeling of joy.
