A Call to Intellectuals

Alright I've had enough of the god debates. Seriously we need to move on. As someone else said, there are so much better things to talk about. And since a lot of this philosophy stuff is different with a nonreligious thinking, I'm going to politely tell the religious folks to just leave us alone. Don't post in this thread. Don't post in any thread we make. And we won't post in yours. So who's with me? Writing this, at the top of my head I have in mind Zylark, light, the roach, scooby. Even if it's just 5 people, I don't really care and i'd actually prefer it. I'd liek to hear your guys' opinions on other topics without us having to repeat ourself 80 millions times to the religious folks who have this mental disease called faith. Once again, religious people need not reply. Thanks.

I think there should be a new forum

1. Religion
2. Philosophy & Nature
3. Science

I actually like all the religion threads. Its a equal mix of my two favorite things, bud and atheism. I love to discuss both.
I agree with enevitable too, we should make another like that.

I also like discussing atheism. However, nobody is going to change their opinions, and every thread (discussion, debate, etc.) questioning the existence of God ends up being the same. Religious folk will not change their minds, nor will their Atheist counterparts.

If you don't want religious people to respond why not just have fun in the science and nature forum?

It's a never ending battle. I personally agree with most things that science says. But the reasons for things like gravity, how can we ever explain that. Science and religion need to work together. It is possible...

Why are you making these topics? Let people talk about what they want. WHY DON'T YOU MAKE SOME TOPICS NOT ABOUT GOD SO WE CAN DISCUSS OTHER THINGS?

Don't bitch about the problem and not even attempt to create a solution. I was feeling frisky about Christianity tonight and wanted to see if I could have a couple questions answered. Nothing is holding you back from making topics that generate discussion NOT involving god. And yet, here you are, making a second topic about not making god threads, which is in effect, about god.

To make this clear, you made a topic about making topics... instead of just making a topic.

Well, the frequency of god-this-or-that threads have had a marked increase since a christian missionary ascended to Grasscity. And since he by his own admission is not here to discuss weedculture, or culture whilst smoking weed, but "spread the word of jeeehzuzz", treat him like any other spammer or troll. Not a member of our weedsmoking, though often not seeing eye to eye, family.

Though some of the most ardent believers on this forum, and our christian missionary friend in particular, do have a tendency to obfuscate legit discussion and give us the smoke and mirrors job, there is a lot of good discussion being made where believers and non-believers not only listen to eachother, but also learns from eachother.

As such I am not inclined to stay out of various "supernatural" threads, and certainly would not suggest believers should stay out of more "rationalist" threads.

That is not to say that we cannot give spamtrolls the silent treatment. Or if that is too difficult in face of some of the more provocative statements, insert the few jabs here and there without giving to much attention to the troll.

Remember, trolls live off attention. If they don't get it, they starve and seek more trollfriendly arenas where bullshitdetectors are not installed

I agree. And I will make more topics, but in the past i've noticed how random topics get hijacked by god debates. To prevent that I just don't want religious fanatics to post in my threads because I know it'll happen. I'm thinking of some good topics to bring up, and i will post them when i do.

Why don't you stop trying to argue that god doesnt exist, and start trying to argue that his existence is inconsequential. Neither side of the god's existence argument can possibly be won.

And do you have any better debate topics that Christianity debates? If you do start a thread on it, otherwise stop complaining. Anyways, if everyone has the same views on a subject, how the hell are we supposed to debate?

Thank-you for this thread; i feel as though I am bombarded by religious zealots daily, and I am so flippen sick of it.
All the wiccans, pagans, animists, Humanists, Freethinkers, and hodgepodge lot of existentialists (myself included) I know tend to keep a low profile so that they aren't marauded by these hooligans of dogma doctrine.
Again, I take a breath of unindoctrinated fresh air and say thanks!

I think the biggest problem is that a lot of people do not understand that underneath all the details and differing qualities of science and religion, they are the same. A means to understand the nature of this "reality" we found ourselves in. Once we can see that religion is ancient science with a smaller vocabulary, we can be more understanding of Sciences lil brother Religion. But, should we throw religion out the door because it is a lesser understanding? No, because it is not nessisarily a "lesser" understanding, but one of a diffrent symbolisim. Science, in its more recent frontiers, is actually now saying that eastern mystisim has had it right for millenia.

And if we would stop and read what Jesus actually had to say to us, then we would see that a lot of what he says is counter intuative to what we always thought christianity to be, and makes alot of sense in the eyes of quantum mechanics.

You see it all has to do with how the abstact quantizes into physical "reality", Jesus spoke of seeds (thoughts, abstract) and the garden (mind) and how to more easily make you dreams manifest into the real world by haveing your heart in line with the father. Faith is believing in something without seeing it, so we have faith in gravity because we see its workings, I hafe faith in the Lord, because I have seen his workings in my life.

The Lord (law in hebrew) is with the birds, in the air they fly. He is with the fish, in the water they swim. He is with men, in the earth they till. If your heart is with him, he will be kind and gentle to you, but when you hide yourself away, you are like a fish without water, flopping about, despratly trying to find oxygen. I should have been dead, in jail, or beaten severly a number of times, but some how I excapt with out a scratch. He is the way, and is here always.

Just remember the Lord is not a "christian", nither am I, he loves all things he helped create, He just has more fun with us, I mean can a fish dance?
