Just in, and about to go public later today on national TV. A new gallup have been done interviewing norwegians about their faith.
To the question
"Do you believe a God or creator force created life on earth?" 47% of men and 36% of women answered that they strongly disagree. A further 13% of men and 12% of women answered that they partially disagree.
In total, 54% disagree. 41% strongly, 13% partially. Add to that the "do not know" group of 7%, and you get 61% non-believers in Norway
On the opposite side, 21% strongly agree, and 18% partially agree. For a total of 39% of believers of one stripe or the other.
And that is not all. The same questionare also probed into evolution. A whopping 83% agree with evolution (59% strongly, 24% partially). Only 8% strongly disagrees with evolution, whilst 4% partially disagree. For a total of 12% for the evolution deniers side. 5% answered "do not know".
This follows a decades long trend of increasing rationality in Norway, at the cost of delusions. Especially evident with regards to evolution.
And you'd be hard pressed to call infidel Norway a cesspool of immorality in its lack of faith. Seeing as the country numerous times have been announced as the best country in the world to live in by economic, political, health and social security standards. It just goes to show that where rationality rules, misery is at a minimum.
I think it got something to do with seeking pragmatic solutions, not utopian denial of reality.
Go norway
But in all fairness, I think Denmark is a teeny bit better, for beeing more liberal, open and culturally self-aware.
