Question Who says the bible is law?

A question that is never asked. Why do we trust it so much. Did God himself tell you to believe the bible or did the people who wrote it tell you to believe it? Well most people will tell you the bible was inspired by god and written by man. But who told them that? The same people that told you to believe told you they were inspired by god. What better way to force people into your religion. And i'm not saying christianity is the only religion to do this either. Why is it people find solace in being followers (sheeple)? Even if everything everything in the is true why follow it? Are we that stupid that we can't find God for ourselves? I personally believe I don't need any help finding God. I don't need people to set rules for me. I can live my life by the standards I set for myself. In the end thats what God will judge us all by. OH n/m, i'm just venting a lil bit cause I can't burn. I'm tryin to get a job. But ask yourself this.

What religion is God a member of?

God is a member of no religion.

God is simply a word we attribute to the ultimate highest power we can imagine.
You're right, the Bible could be a bunch of baloney. We can never know. That is why people have 'faith'. And yes, of course we are that stupid that we can't find God ourselves, if you think otherwise then you think way too highly of yourself and humanity.

But thats exactly where you are wrong. If we can't find God why could people in the bible find "him"? Even a stupid person can find God its just a matter of trying. I choose to find God in the smallest things. Just take a look around you, I don't need anybody to tell me that I was created by something. The people who started the bible started with nothing. I choose to do the same in order to make sure i'm not led down the wrong path. which is why I don't see anything wrong with mary.

god is just a silly outdated word that people used to use to describe stuff they couldnt put into words. it really should be taken out of the 21st century dictionary as it has absolutely no pertenance to living a good life.

oh and i beleive its only extremists who follow the bible "as law"

its pretty much just a badly put together collection of stories. i mean seriously, if your gonna write a bunch of BS, at least update it for the times and keep that shit beleiveable... waters parting, heavens opening... maybe in the 14th century people... maybe.

christian fundamentalism is what is bringing this country to its knees,

and it is what is keeping the general public from evolving intellectually.

Precise. There is no definitive "God." You create an image of God based around what religion you believe in. God is your image of a higher being, talking in the sense of literally "believing/worshiping" a God. No one individual will tell you what to do, and no one will judge you in the end but yourself.

FWIW....
1 Corinthians 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Also;
1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Lastly:
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Being polite isn't the law either but that doesn't mean you should avoid illustrating it...I'm not saying it's wrong to question religion or anything, but you don't criticise good manners so why criticise good morals.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say. Those verses kinda prove my point.

Nobody ever said there is anything wrong with the message that the bible trys to deliver. But a book that was written by men who had some "power over people", a book that has been changed or translated many times, a book that has helped shape the POS world we live in; well I for one think it deserves a little constructive criticism.

I beg to differ.

Not to mention that the bible is not a fountain of good morals. Quite the opposite. It actually promotes racism, oppression of women, keeping slaves, killing infidels etc.

Without religion, good people do good deeds, and bad people do evil. But it takes religion to make good people do evil. (somewhat paraphrased from I don't remember who).

A lot of people follow the bible as law..not just extremists.

And I know this is not really what you're talking about, but I hate it when law tries to incorporate the bible. Uugh.

the bible is most certainly not inerrant. Take, for example the crucifixion/resurrection story. The synoptic gospels disagree on things like where Jesus was first seen, whether or not the resurrected Jesus wanted to be touched, how many of the 12 he appeared to, etc.

The God of the bible puts Hitler and pol pot to shame when it comes to mass murdering. Many times entire cities are wiped out with God's blessing ( I.E. Joshua). In kings, some kids are making fun of the prophet Elijah and he curses them in the name of the lord. Immedietly 2 she-bears appear and kill them all.

Fundamentalism of any kind is dangerous. The majority of Christians are good people who believe in the message of love over one of hate and exclusion. Just as the majority of Muslims are good people. Its the extremists on both sides that give everyone else a bad name.
