Ostriches have dinosaur feet

I was visiting family over the recent holiday and had cause to go visit an ostrich ranch outside of Tucson Arizona, and boy was I impressed with the reptilian similarities. I made these observations about this large bird, this icon of the evolutionary proof of mutations remaining.

Ostriches have dinosaur's feet.
Dinosaur's legs, dinosaurs meat.
Dinosaur's necks, dinosaurs heads...
Only damn difference is the ostrich ain't dead!

And now it turns out that many dinosaurs had feathers, or something like feathers, so I now think that ostriches are much like the old velociraptors. If you doubt my comparison, visit the ranch and give those suckers some feed, it's like watching sharks get fed chum at the striking speed of a rattlesnake. Brainless eating machines, 2-3 meters high!

I want to visit the Creation Museum riding on an ostrich, and just look the proprietor in the face and go, "hmmmm, you don't say!" in my best Bugs Bunny voice, then ride my ostrich into the sunset.

The dinosaurs didn't die off, they just learned to fly. Or like the ostrich, they just buried their heads until trouble ( comet/volcano) passed.

Yeah I too believe the dinosaurs devolved into birds, since they were originally created by birds,it's only right that they have the same characteristics.

I wonder if us humans are going to devolve back into cats or something similar.(I swear I have to stop taking this Anu THING SO SERIOUSLY)

UMMMMMmmmm, what?

Dinosaurs came from birds? Which paleontology books are you reading? I think the accepted historical progression is that birds evolved from dinosaurs, not the other way around.

Archaeopteryx, I had a model of that when I was a laddie. I played flying lizard bird games. Pteradactyl, Pteranodon, you name it, I played with it. Well, with the toy versions anyway...

My point is only to ask what do creationists think when an 8 foot high flightless bird that can kick a lion to death is staring them in the face? Does that sound like an original 'god' creation, or do you think this one may have changed a little, let's say it 'evolved'. From the Dinosaurs who lived MILLLIONS of years ago. maybe?

Medicine...creationists wouldn't compare an ostrich with a dinosaur because they deny dinosaurs existed. At least I think they have to.... the bible says nothing about dinosaurs and according to creationists, fossils are bullshit.

It makes me mad just thinking about it.

Anyway, theres is no doubt in my mind that dinos evolved into birds. It didn't go straight from raptor to emu, though. Most dinosaurs were killed off by the KT impact millions of years ago. But some small mammals and reptiles survived to evolved again.

There are plenty of characteristics seen in birds that were also seen in dinos. Such as feet with 3 toes pointing forward and one back. Many dinosaurs were found with proto-feathers... such as the sinosauropteryx..... I
m guessing a relative of archaeopteryx. A creature called unenlagia folded its arms 'backwards' like birds do. The oviraptor was found covering its nest of eggs the same way emus do now. In addition, several others were found with hollowed bones.... a trait found in birds to lighten their bodies for flight.

Most of my info was found at http://www.abc.net.au/science/slab/d...d/overview.htm

The velociraptors were pretty much birds already. They had feet like birds, legs the bend back at the knee like birds, they had unbelievable eyesight, and they were extremely intelligent.

Besides archaeopteryx and other flying dinobirds, several of them were flightless. These flightless birds were probably the link between dinos with feathers, and flying creatures such as achaeopteryx.

This article very interesting and informative.

Chief, you are the man, thanks for posting those links.

I have never been in doubt of the actual age of this planet, I spent much of my youth in Arizona, where the Grand Canyon puts about 3 billion years of history on display for anyone to see. Even creationists can see the layers of sedimentary rock, formed at the bottom of the oceans, that now sit at 7000 ft. above sea level.

My original post was a tongue in cheek rant, inspired by the feet of huge birds, meant only to point out the obvious. That some people in the USA will consider acceptance of the insanity of creationism as reason to NOT vote for someone, is an insult to the magnificence of history, and science, and their own minds.

Creationism is buffonery. Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney are both MORONS.

In my Ostrich-brained opinion.
