holy fuck. i dream of reading posts like this on GC. this is out of this world... maybe there still is hope for our species. at least we can now clone ourselves, or work towards it. we may not totally destroy all traces of human existance now.

Though much can be done with non-embryonic stem cells, it is an order of magnitude more cumbersome and thus complex. Thus leading to a greater margin of error. And with regards to genetics, errors are not all that popular.
Shame the US have got so mired in religion as to shun embryonic stem-cell research. Your loss I guess. Oh, almost forgot: Yes, stem-cell research is the most important field of medicine we got today. The potential is almost endless, as these great advances show. And we'll soon see even greater advances. From Europe and Asia, where the research is not hindered by superstition.

this is big news, but it's way too early to even consider using the process. In order to create the pluripotent cells there's a fair risk of cancer from the virus used, only a little ass backwards. Not the mention the ONLY reason this article gets any play is cause of Dubya, all this effectively did was give the administration a second wind in the battle against embryonic stem cell research.

Yes, it is early... But this shows a lot of promise. Hopefully, however, the nanities will come to fruition beforehand. I really dig the idea of replacing my neurons with more efficent and faster machines.

That's great news that a common way to use “stem cells” has been found. Truthfully though, the article is off, as all organs have a cache of stem cells; bone-marrows the next best source after babies(course thats a bitch to get).
Already its possible to give a pill that induces bone-marrow stem cells to release and repair the heart; I wonder what they'll do with this.

This is WONDERFUL! You know, I would not be surprised if humans can cure aging in our lifetimes. Which will hopefully be very long and very prosperous.
