Not getting huffy, dude. I'm simply trying to stress the fact that I had faith. It got me no where. I sought (past-tense) God, and Jesus and all that... And he never answered. I believe there's a possibility of there being a God, but certainly not the one of the Bible. The only reason I'm not a complete atheist is because of certain experiences which I'll not get into now.

@ Highbinder -- Yeah, man... Jesus said "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

hehehehehe, there is a better (clearer) one, in the same vein..

"Unless you believe, you cannot understand belief..."

Circular logic anyone?

this is an answer from a christian view..
that's very poetic, but it sounds like an outdated method of control. either this, or that. no middle ground...no maybe. just either absolute good or absolute bad.

not about to read the whole thing, but believing in god out of fear that it might be real isn't believing; hence the "might" element. ask yourself the same question about other religions vs christianity

If I am wrong, then I will spend my "eternity of suffering" in the comfort that I lived my life the best way that I could, believing what I thought to be true, and not letting others tell me how to live my life. I will know that I lived a life that was full of beauty, and discovery, and freedom.
Honestly, the concept of spending an eternity in suffering does not scare me in the slightest. Certainly not enough to convert to ANY religion.

honestly many christians (very sadly true) havent had a supernatural experience with God..only because they dont truly give their all..

and if you say its inaccurate to say someone who doesnt believe in God wants nothing to do with Him then i challenge you to give Him your heart ...seek Him diligently and with fervency...if you do that you will have your proof...

if you cant/wont do that then i was right in saying what i said.

Why would want I spend that much of a portion of my life trying to seek out a god that may or may not exist when I could... live my life?

The way I figure it, I only get one life, and it could be damned short. So I'm not going to spend my time seeking out some great answer to what happens when I die. I'll just focus on living while I still can, thanks.

EDIT: Wow. I'm really late in responding to this. My bad, I just now happened upon it.

In the incarnation, Christ's divine, non-differentiated impartial love acts as the exemplar for human, partial love.

Are there any jewish people here? I read a book called Everyman's Talmud, it goes over the stuff in the Talmud with extracts and suchlike. Anyway theres this one page and its a story that sums up - to me - the entireity of what religion should be.

Simply put (I can't remember exactly how it goes) the story is:

Theres a man who wanted to be taught the faith, but of the teachers he requires them to stand on one foot while he's being taught. The Rabbi cannot do it, until one appears, who, standing on one foot says: 'What is hateful to yourself, do not to your fellow man'

What more to it is there than that?
Probably, however, Jesus did not exist!

It is logic that tells us to not do hateful things to our "fellow man"... Why? Evolution! We are group animals, in order for a group to survive everyone must look out for everyone else. This is proper, natural, and a product of our evolution. Religions do not need to tell us the obvious, perhaps they once did, but that time has long since passed.
