Well, I've honestly never tried it. Don't keep bricks around. But, I would expect that if I drop a brick it would most likely fall to the ground.

Because it simply is not true. All you need do is take a casual look around you and you will understand why it is not true. If what you say is true we would still be squatting in the dirt picking fleas off of each other... It is amazing people manage to feed themselves in your reality.

Yes it could be said to be a known fact, but by the very nature of scientific inquiry it is still possible for it to be wrong. If we were to observe something that directly contradicts one of the theories that is used to define the structure of a star, then we would have to re-evaluate the way in which fusion works. If, say, we were to observe matter falling away from the center of the earth, instead of towards it, repeatedly, we would probably have to reconsider how the sun's core works.
