Argument for Eugenics

It is rather long read, but I think this short essay is a very important comment on the future of our species.

I have only read the introductory points made by the author so far, but will read the rest of the article in due time.

From the introductory points, however, a few things stand out, namely the fact that intelligence is NOT largely hereditary. Like most aspects of our psychology, it is a hodgepodge of heredity and environment, such as can be observed in the case study of the Kallikak family.

Furthermore, we are not getting less intelligent. Those who are having more children are not genetically less intelligent, they are culturally less able to access education. Furthermore, if a group were genetically less intelligent, they would breed themselves into such a stupor that eventually at some point their branch of the genetic bush could not continue to support itself. Just because people who are often perceived to be less intelligent may be having more children due to social circumstances does not mean that those who may be perceived to be more intelligent are having no children. So, even if there is a genetic basis to intelligence, we can rest assured that the really stupid ones will branch off into an unsuccessful quasi-human race and die out.

Eugenics should really remain a dead school of thought. The mere fact that this article is from the Occidental Quarterly should illustrate the danger in pursuing eugenics as a study or as a practice (Occidental, by the way, means "Western" the way that Oriental means "Eastern", so I have to presume that this publication has a strong white/Western slant).

I've always just assumed that intelligence was hereditary and often thought about that fact that slightly more dumbassed people seem to sleep around a lot more then others or at least they do it without protection. Now I know that when I think about these things, I'm thinking about eugenics.

What in this article exists that everyone hasn't already figured out with the use of common sense?

Okay, sure a world without guilt, compassion, and brotherly love would run smoother; everyone knows that. I wonder if we would have gotten as far as we did without these things. At this point though its all moot, the stupid out number the smart by quite a bit and for whatever reason we've made them our leaders who control the weapons that the smart gave us. Not too bright smart asses. I'm just bitter because I'm pretty sure I'm in idiot.

One might also consider the fact that during this golden period during American history 1800's it was a mixture of a class system and over zealous religion that created this situation where intelligence was encouraged. The only difference was the leaders seemed a lot less religious then the masses, maybe things are just to flip flopped today. I would also say that an overabundance of wealth creates an overabundance of stupidity.
