I've been thinkin, and... (Rant about people)

It seems strange to me that we don't have alot of things that we should have as human beings in a modern society.

I want a pedal plane that I don't have to kill myself to fly, one that costs no fuel whatsoever.

I want reliable public air transportation...

I want free eyeglasses because I can't see shit without them, as well as doctor checkups!

I want to drive my car as much as I want without thinking about gas!

It seems odd to me that people are just now thinking of such things, what with the "energy crisis" and all. I mean honestly did we honestly not fathom running out of oil at the rate we're using it? This really isn't a rant about politics, it's more of a rant wondering why no one in the billions of people on this planet can't do something majorly constructive. It seems that no one is at least a little altruistic anymore. All anyone thinks about is learning about whatever it is just to get a job doing something fun. What about learning engineering to invent something better than whatever else is out there? What happened to improving our lifestyle? Why do we keep coming out with halfass job hybrid cars that still suck as opposed to what we could potentially do.

Or EVEN compared to what the ancient romans knew.

What happened to water power? The search for perpetual energy transfer. Seemingly possibly the most important question in our lifetime, how do we create efficient energy? or free energy!

Water power can be perfected to near perpetual efficiency, gravity, thermodynamics. It seems that all these sciences are used for is show and explanation, where as no one is using them like we should be. Why is it that within 100 years we invented electricity, the TV, flight, cars. But for some reason we can't improve upon our age old concepts?

I dunno maybe I'm asking too much of humankind.

What do you guys think? Not just in terms of science, but in social aspects as well. Why are foreign affairs suddenly more important than improving our lifestyles thus chain reacting and improving the lifestyle of the entire planet.

My suggestion to all you who are my age and looking at the future. Don't go to college to get a career, go to college to better mankind in your own little way. What happened to students protesting? In my opinion the only difference between the Iraq war and the vietnam war is the loss of life on our side, that is the ONLY difference! Why aren't there enormous protests at the capital? WTF people, get on the ball or something.

Then I ask the obvious question, why havn't I heard about it on the news?

Even with one point refuted, another problem with society springs up in its place.

Well currently the vast majority of energy is based on non-renewable resources, and they're being exploited for profit. Socialism and capitalism don't mix well and capitalism is what drives this exploitation.

Even renewable resources are finite and therefore exploited.

Soon it will eventually not become a concern. We have a gargantuan natural fission reactor only a mere 150 million kilometers.

Our universe is abundant in raw materials. Planets, asteroid belts, moons and comets teeming with the building blocks of society.

THIS is why we should, as a species, invest our global resources in the exploration of space.

But the thing is, that goal is incompatible in the capitalist society's mentality.

I do totally agree with you concerning the civic duty thing. We need compulsory military service or something.

I dunno, I don't think the government should require us to do anything besides working for them. If you're working for a government that supposedly represents the people, then there is no problem. The issue is when corrupt politicians I.E->George Bush use other countries as money trash cans.

Man, Creator of this Topic, you sound like a real bitch. Clean the sand from your vagina and see that you live in fucking America. You're living in an era where you have more opportunities to make the most of your life than any other person in the history of civilization. On top of that, your skin tells everyone you are white, which makes you the privileged of the privileged.

You're complaining about tiny inconveniences when the rest of the world is dying.

Stop being an idiot. Better your mind and your body; than get your pothead ass in the damn game. Change the rules and you can have anything your heart desires. As long as it's nothing sick and psychopathic.

id never listen to a socialist

or well...

ill listen to you, but the best response you can hope for is a laugh. how about people being responsible for themselves? so if you need glasses you work, like the person who gathered the materials for it, and the person who created the glasses, and buy them. thats my vision for perfection. people work to support, and furthermore, be responsible for themselves.

One could say the same to you.

Nobody ever thought gas was going to last forever, it was and is the best thing we had at the time so we used it. And people are working on alternate fuel sources as we speak. But a hydrogen car isnt going to just spring up out of nowhere, the technology takes time to progress. It wont be long. And for all your idealistic communist beliefs what have you done to relieve our depence on oil. tisk tisk, you silly commie's thinking life will just be handed to you.
