You need so much less with God

I am now 100% positive I found God. I am so happy. My confidence is so high, simply because of one thing I can rest assured on: God is there for me. He will always be there for me. It's so hard to explain and if I would have said the same thing to myself 2 months ago I would have been like, "you fucking serious?" But I am serious. This is real. I remember back when I was an athiest I used to hate listening to people preach, so I won't do that. But I will say this: It is amazing for me. Amazing. PS: I haven't smoked in more than a week, so I know I don't need weed to find Him anymore (LOL don't worry I'm still a daily smoker come payday I just took a tolerance break cause of financial issues )

hows this.

Quote:
as lifted from wikipedia
While many Narn were coming to him for guidance, they were more interested in applying their own interpretation of his words, or focusing on some things he had said while ignoring others — even when he himself was insisting otherwise. His sermons, however, were often quite inspired. For example, when asked "What is truth, and what is god?" he explained:

G'Kar
If I take a lamp and shine toward the wall, a bright spot will appear on the wall. The lamp is our search for truth, for understanding. Too often we assume the light on the wall is God, but the light is not the goal of the search, it is the result of the search. The more intense the search, the brighter the light on the wall. The brighter the light on the wall, the greater the revelation upon seeing it. Similarly, someone who does not search, who does not bring a lantern with him, sees nothing. What we perceive as God is the by-product of our search for God. It may simply be an appreciation of the light, pure and unblemished. Not understanding that it comes from us, sometimes, we stand in front of the light and assume we are the center of the universe. God looks astonishingly like we do. Or we turn to look at our shadow and assume all is darkness. If we allow ourselves to get in the way, we defeat the purpose - which is use the light of our search to illuminate the wall in all its beauty and all it flaws, and in so doing, better understand the world around us.

G'Kar

I agree 100% with Digit.

I don't mean to rain on your parade man, really I don't, but most people who "find" God simply find something secure to hold on to and its reassuring and plesant, but just like the post above me, it stops your search when you never really found anything.

believe what you want to believe, I'm not going to preach anymore. Í don't want to come off as arrogant, but I am 100% positive about this. Good luck trying to convince me otherwise. Today was more than just a good day. It was a revolution for me. I guess if people don't believe me, I don't really care, I have God and I know it. In the past I thought I found God and I did catch a glimpse of Him, and you might have thought I was crying wolf or whatever, but now I really have a relationship with Him. And if you don't believe me, fine, again, I'm not here to preach. But if you (I'm not saying anyone did) are gonna try and convince me I didn't find God, seriously, fuck you. I didn't make this thread to brag. I made this thread wondering if anyone else had similar experiences, and basically because He is too good to keep inside. I talked to some friends, they can relate to what happened to me. They are really happy for me. I look at a lot of you guys as friends. I'm not going to explain anymore, cause I don't have to convince anything to anyone. I really don't. I guess I won't talk about God anymore on gc. And metalstonerking, you don't have to worry about raining on my parade. It's more than a parade, and it's gonna take a helluva lot more than rain to ruin it.

thanks metalstonerking. I always have and always will believe in respecting each other's spiritual life, whatever it may be. i've been on both ends of the spectrum, and i can see from both sides that it's not cool for athiests and christians to have any disrespect for one another. just an update, i did some more praying with my boy, he explained stuff to me, and it's like i can connect to him on a whole different level now that i'm a christain. oh yeah, i didn't mention that, i'm a christian(i won't get into the details). just to put a little background info on my friend, he's been my friend for awhile, strong christian, used to thug and what not, had his life totally turned around by god. now this whole time we've been friends, he's been a christian and i've been an athiest. it just feels so different now. i already found a good church for me that i've been to before with my boy but i never bought into it. I can look back on it though and see it is a good fit for me. wow, this is so overwhelming. you guys have no idea what a big change this is for me. oh, and much love to everyone, whatever you believe.

I totally agree with this...the human mind is quite powerful enough to make one feel like they have found god simply because they wanted so badly to find it...Don't think the human brain is a powerful thing? Try acid.

I'm glad to hear that man, God will never forsake you, even in desperate times of need.

Eventhough you may not see him PHYSICALLY, he's definitely present.

Thats why you feel so secure now, it's only the beginning.

Now some christians would argue this to prove that what they believe is true. I'm not that kind of christian. I strongly believe everyone has the right to freedom of belief. I hate those christians that try to shove it down your throat. So you guys can keep opposing everything I'm saying with a rebudle, that's fine, but I'm not going to rebudle back. I think it's stupid to get in an argument over religion. Just letting you guys know that. And thank you for your support, white warrior. I love you brothers and sisters, I really do

Good man... arguing over religion is pretty much like playing lincoln logs vs. grandma... entertaining for a while but ultimately no victor

It's not like person A would say: "No, no, you got it all wrong... MY god is the right one" and person B would say: "HEY YOURE RIGHT HOORAY"
