Bored? Share your knowledge!

I just thought it might be an idea to do some kind of general networking between us to share what I'm sure must be a vast store of knowledge that we hodl between us. So, how about a thread where we all say what we're interested in/have skills in to one degree or another and offer to share what we know with those who want to know more? We don't need to offer an entire 'how to' course to anyone who asks uness we want to, but we can all perhaps point any inquirers to all the right sources of valid information.

My list is;

Meditation
Computer Graphics
Tai Chi
Aikido
Journalism
Writing in general
Mentalism
Early photography
The Paranormal
Career/employment advice (CV's, interviews, etc)

I'm happy to help anyone where I can on the above subjects. Anyone else?

The only knowledge that you guys posted that i'm interested in is: MONKEYS ROLLING A JOINT!! HOLY SHIT! AWESOME! haha jk!

This is a good thread, if people decide to make use of it. Knowledge is powa! I don't know if i could scrape up all my scrambled knowledge to put into a list, but I can try. And melt, maybe you could teach me computer graphics, i've always wanted to learn but been lazy :P Everything else you guys posted I'm always trying to learn, and i'm sure through time i will learn them from you, hopefully

I don't have any professional knowledge of any of this, just general interests that I have been taken into, and mostly just the basics(always looking to learn more):

Art, and the love for it
My love for music and vast appeal for many kinds of it
Hapkido/Taekwondo/Juijitsu
Writing/Poetry
Basic HTML
Philosophy
Photography
Pottery
Pot smoking
Meditation
Buddhism/Taoism
Vast knowledge of Anime
Ecstasy
Lifting/working out
Footbag!
Korean language
Religions
Spirituality!
Movies?
Politics

Can't really think of anything else, I need to learn more!!

Hi Vicious, thanks to you and Digit for your own lists. There's a couple there for both of you that I may need to call on at some point, the Korean for one. What I'm hoping to do is that once w have a decent enough list I'll compile it alphabetically to make it easier to browse.

To me knowledge is power too. If we're stuck with something or want to move into a new job, etc, then why not call on those ho've already worked in those fields?

Computer graphics, no problem. Most of my experience is from 10years ago, I did about 30 games for various platforms, but mainly pixel by pixel work rather than rendering. But I can teach you all the basics. What area of interest do you have and what kind of things would you like to draw? Do you have any paper-based skills at all? Mine are negligble, but it does help get work. If you don't mind, could you drop me a private message so that we don't fill the thread up?

MeLT you do Aikido? Unfortunately I have never taken a class due to time constraints, but if i ever find time Aikido is exactly where I'm going. I want to do a three way training between Aikido one night, Kendo the next, and Iaido as well. Aikido and Iaido are my two main passions (or would be) but Kendo fits in so perfectly I assume. Someday I hope though Aikido is everything I've ever wanted in a martial art. I sat on the sidelines of one class when I was looking for a dojo, but alas no go.

As for me, I don't know, I have weird little things

hobby car building
aquariums (freshwater only)
history
trumpet
computer shit

I don't know, I have a weird thing where when ever I'm depressed I delve deeply into a topic of research and focus all my time and energy on it, obsessing over it for months. So yeah,I have quite a few topics of expertise... just no first hand knowledge. lol

Whereabouts are you based? Aikido is excellent, but it's pretty strenuous, I'm not sure I'd want to try and fit in all 3 sword forms back to back. I think you'd run into some problems if you were to learn all 3 at once, as the foot positions and handling are slightly different. I found Kendo in particular a bit of a sod after Aikido, the stances felt odd, it was far less combative than I'd hoped and I kept wanting to do Aikido parrys, which aren't allowed. A few people do Iaido and Aikido though and they go together well, as both are about moving from the hips and of course much aikido was designed to be used against an armed swordsman.
Here in the UK there's far too much politics about now in it, too many teachers wanting to change traditions so they can put their ownmark on the practises. There are some styles to avoid too, like Ki Aikido and Tomiki.

I fyou can't find a clas you might consider trying to teach yourself some of the basics. There are plenty of clips of it on things like Bearshare and if you had a couple of the basic books you could at least work on falls, foot movements and the ideas behind it all to a point where you'd be one step ahead if you ever did find a Dojo?

Forgot to mention one of my own - guitar. I was in rock bands, pro/semi-pro, for a looooong time, playing lead and sometimes bass. I play just any kind of music that grabs me now, folky finger-picking, Floyd type stuff, flamenco, etc.

I'm looking into martial arts or boxing or kickboxing, for fun, exersize in body and mind. I'm really interested particularly in haha like the drunken style ? of martial arts like the jackie chan shit, and I was wondering is there anywhere I can learn that, cuz that'd be super cool If I could hone my body, mind in some sort of free flowing, but deadly art...OR if as I'm guessing there's no way I can really practice in that style around here, what about I don't know what it's called, but it's like martial arts and dance combined, anybody know what I'm talking about. Is that Thai Chi?

Cuz I'm always looking for new ways to test myself and I think those would be pretty cool cuz they aren't very structured or anything, but sound challenging so I saw a lot of u guys know about Aikido and such, what would u recommend for me?...I'm open to Jujistu, anything, but I'd rather it be something where I can sort of do my own thing, style wise and not completely practicing the same moves over and over you know...but really it doesn't matter I guess I'm open to anything...

Also, I could really use a joint rolling monkey!! Can I order one on ebay? lol.

Interesting, lots of Buddhists about...

It might be an idea if as well as posting what we can do, those who have problems or questions post here to see if any of us can help solve them.

Haha that's what i thought too man.

Footbag aka Hackysack aka awesome. It's such a good workout and plus you can do some crazy moves with a hacky it's almost defying physics.

I only know the basics about pottery, off the wheel, coil and slab. My pieces aren't that great because I only had one class of it my senior year of hs. And one class period of it is not nearly enough to learn everything, but I definitly plan on taking it in college. I would put up pics but I don't have a digital camera.
