Another product that has no purpose in my mind. Tablets and similar devices fill a niche that, IMO, does not exist. People will buy them and then find a reason to use the, but I think they are a waste.
I have an iPad and I hardly ever use the damn thing. It's an iPhone with a nice big screen.

Exactly, it's basically a limited lightweight laptop with the components behind the screen instead of underneath the keyboard. How revolutionary.Because this actually runs a desktop Operating System and not a limited mobile OS
It might be a good product, but it's just not enough to excite me. I'm waiting for quantum computers or something

There are other, better devices on the market. Maybe not the surface depending on what youre looking for, but they do exist. Assuming the ipad is the only decent tablet available is pretty ignorant.

No thanks, the few times I do use it is to test things at work. I work in IT so occasionally I need to try out new apps, VPN connections, etc....care to sell me yours?
However I did win the thing for free in a raffle. I would not have bought one.

Stuff like remoting various equiptment whilst out and about for example. Tablets are great in the Sound/Lights/AV business, as you can remote the lights/sound mixer whilst walking the stage doing adjustments. Also wonderfull for remote-desktoping various servers and mediaplayers.
So tablets do have their very good uses, but I suspect the vast majority of those that get one do so because they are gadget-freaks who crave a new toy. Nothing wrong with that per-se, but I could think of a few other things to spend my money on at least. Like a new airpistol and a couple of hundred CO2 bulbs, I'm almost out... *ahem*
