DYING LEAVES-- Nute Def. or Nute burn???

My little lady has been growing very well for the past month, but within the last 2 or so weeks, the big fan leaves near the bottom have been yellowing, then eventually dying and falling off. About a week ago we switched it to 12/12 and everything went fine, pistils are starting to pop up on all the tops. We gave it it's first dose of flowering nutes 3 days ago, and we just watered it with straight tap water tonight. So far it has only been affecting the fan leaves, it hasn't started to creep up to the tops. Here'es a picture of it's current status. You can see one leaf that is really yellow and then another big fan leaf that has just started to turn yellow. Any suggestions on what could be wrong is greatly appreciated. Blaze on.....

Your plant needs nitrogen. The next time the plant is scheduled to be fed, give it a dose of your high in N food.

What makes you so sure it's a defeciency? Would you think that it's harmed the plant at all, assuming that only the fan leaves have fallen off?

What makes me so sure it is a deficiency is because I have seen this 100 times and have personally seen this with my grows. Yes, it will eventually harm your yield if you do not do something about it early. Check out this link and pay close attention to the part on Nitrogen deficiency. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.p...8&page=1&pp=15

I actually just read that link you put up and read the whole Nitrogen section. It said too much N will delay flowering. Well we've been flowering teh plants for about a week now, will giving them N rich nutes be ok?

Thank you. Some might say I should follow the first quote in my sig a little more closely but, we are all learning here.
All the guides I have read said it is a good idea to give the plants a large dose of N right before flowering. That way they have enough to get them by during flowering. I do this and they still sometimes start to get prematurely yellow; must be my small pot size I use or something. Anyway, I then give a dose of N fertilizing in between to stop the yellowing. This seems to work for me. Try it and see what happens. Maybe you can designate a plant that you give periodic N fertilizer to during flower and another that you just let get N deficient. That is the best way to experiment I think. Then realize the details might change a bit from strain to strain. Good luck and talk to you soon.

Quick update: here'a picture of what's going on with my leaves. You can see that on the big leaf it's very yellow, but also has some brown spots on it. The small leaf behind it and to the left is what it looks like about a week later. Is it still just lack of N??? Our pH is right around 6.9; is it possible that it's blocking out the N (causing the yellowing) and then the ferts that we're giving it over ferted it, causing the small spots??

PH is fine.
Just let it take its course and all should be well since you managed to slow down the yellowing. I have found that anticipating the yellowing is the best thing to do. Personally I have not been able to do that 100%
