Question Just started need some help

Hey everyone. I've been reading this sight for awhile and have absorbed a ton of info. This is actually my first post and hopefully not the last. I'll be starting a thread in the grow journal but I have a question to ask.

I started this plant about 6 days ago. It sprouted up rather quickly and from dirt to leaves is about 2 inches tall.

The problem I'm having is it will not grow upwards. I've had it tied off to a bamboo shoot for the past 3 days and it still seems to be falling over.

I saw that blowing a fan on it will help with stem strength, but space doesn't really permit it. Just wondering if anyone had any other ideas.

Also I will be doing LST, so do I even need to worry about this?

Sorry I guess I posted that a little prematurely. I didn't think that I'd have this box done this quickly. Don't have a camera so I'll try and paint you a little picture until I get the pics up.

The box is 2 ft. by 2 ft. inside. About 4 1/2 ft. high. I have 4 26 watt cfl's on the plant. Exhaust fan on the back which hooks up to a carbon filter on the outside, and I have intake holes on the bottom. Everything is well sealed.

The plant looks healthy. It has nice green leaves and is starting to grow it's second set. Using organic miracle grow soil (yeah I know). I watered the soil in the large container, let it drain and then transplanted the plant into this. It's just that the stem is not strong enough.

I don't know about just burying the stem. It's supposed to be above soil, right? I'll try and get pics up as soon as possible, but like I said the plant has nice green leaves, it's just the stem.

Re: Just started need some help

Just keep burying the stem to keep it upright, remove any tie off. Keep the lights close to reduce stretching. They HAVE to have a breeze, no way around it. Try hanging a small computer fan.

Re: Just started need some help

You can bury a stretched out stem pretty much right up to the cotlydon. It will grow roots from that stem over time. Many CFL growers need to remove the lower growth after some time anyway because the light penetration is so poor.
