Germinated Seeds will not Sprout : (

My germinated seeds wont sprout. I have them under a 400w MH bulb about 4 feet away. A humidifier to keep humidity up. Also I put zip lock bags over the cups to keep humidity up. Im using FFOF soil. The temps did get up to 90 degrees before but usually at around 80. I have a circulation fan. Not enough money for inline fan though . Somebody please help though. This is the second time I spent about 150 dollars on my babies and I think they are dead but not sure. I tried to post pic of set up but it didnt post

Re: Germinated Seeds will not Sprout : (

How long have u been waiting ? Also did u make sure not to touch the white shoot of the sprout when u put it in the soil ? Also you dont really need that light until ure plant breaks ground all u really need is to keep the soil warm and moist light wont do u any good until ure plant has leaves to absorb the light so turn the light off and save the electric until they break ground. Just keep the soil warm and moist and be patient the common mistake most new growers make is careing to much for their plants they see things not happening right away so they freak out and start messing with things and ultimately end up killing their plants. So just relax and let nature take its course. I have never been a big fan of pre germination I think the best way is the natural way of putting the seed in the soil and letting it germinate in the soil all these people that germinate in paper towels etc.. are nothing but busy bodies in my book because I have never had any trouble just letting the seed do its thing in the soil the sprout will grow in plus it eliminates the chance of damaging the shoot by touching it with ure fingers.

Re: Germinated Seeds will not Sprout : (

I planted them only like 1/4 inch deep. Some of them the roots were like 1/2 inch when I planted them and I only germinated for about 30 hours. So the ones with 1/2 inch I put a little deeper. Hopefully I shall see some life in some of my babies ill be patient though. You dont think the 400 watt light dried them out? It was about 4 feet away. but poor venilation, only a fan inside circulating the air.

You dont need the light right now so just turn it off. Only thing a seed needs to germinate is warmth and moisture. Only thing ure doing by keeping the light on is burning electric its not helping the seeds at all.
