question over plant ID

High yall, ive had two babies going for about 2 months. I was under the impression i had both female plants until one started growing balls. They looked like grapes actually and were coming out from the pistels (sp?). My question is, is my other plant going to be messed up because of this? They were side by side in the same area. Also, do the male plants give off the same smell that females do? because the male plant was stinky like herb like i had expected it would be before i figured out it was a male.

also ive checked alot about PH balances and everywhere says to "check the PH" but most dont say how.

I appreciate the feedback and have been reading here for months about what to do. great site.
