Sick Chocolope Seedlings

I have been in a battle with the pH in this 5 gal SWC unit. I had rockwool in my net pots with hydroton on top. I flushed the cubes soaked them in phed water blah blah blah. Anyway they would keep raising the ph in there to above 7. I had enough and pulled them out. I put the sprout plugs back in and filled the pots with hydroton. I put the ph @ 6.2, and over night it rose to 6.7. Not a big jump at all compared to before. They have been out of the rockwool for about 24 hours so far and I see no signs of improvement. I took the plug out and looked at the tap root and its off white, a tad yellow, and the same size as before. These seedlings are 10 days old since they broke the surface. Do you guys think I can save these things? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Sick Chocolope Seedlings

First off did u wash ur balls good Those set ups can lead to PH swings because of small rez size and clay balls need to be washed good, that said they can grow monster plants. I just use a Floranova nute's and it does a good job of maintaining the PH level. One more thing @ that early age over watering the rockwool can b a prob. I cured my probelm with this by learing the wieght of the cube, dont overlook this one,i saved myself alot of clones and seedlings not leaving as much water in them

Thanks, and yes I always make sure I wash my balls thoroughly . Do you know if its possible to have too much oxygen. I have a 30 gal air pimp on this little guy, with 2 air stones. (it has 2 air line outputs).

Re: Sick Chocolope Seedlings

You shouldnt have any nutes in her mix right now, with that said do not adjust the ph..
Clean water only....
If you are not giving her nutes the ph doesnt matter....
More bubbles are better so no i dont think ur giving her to much...
Shake the cube out put it within 1/2" of the bottom of the net pot and adjust your water level to 1/2" under the pot.. do not water from the top just wait...
she has been water logged....

Hope this helps buddy

you really should just take her out of the bucket until she is bigger, once you see roots coming out of the bottom of the cube follow directions above

Ok so I have taken them out of the res. I am just going to let it sit with no water for a few days. I am using the little circle rockwool plugs. The root has grown out of the bottom. It would not grow into my other rockwool cube so I removed it. Now its just the plug in there surrounded by hydroton.

Should I just wait for the roots to grow through the hydroton before I put it back in there?
