Flowering Slow To Nothing

Hello,

I veged my plants for four weeks (should have done two). The plants have been on 12/12 for four weeks now and it looks like the plants have almost stopped mid bud. There is also some orange hairs on 2/3 of the buds so do you guys think their going to finish before they tighten up? I have read here that budding usually takes eight to ten weeks and I am only in week four. I have some pictures for someone to look at so if you have any ideas please let me know.

I am growing in soil medium with GH neutriants, 1000 watt eyehortilux HPS light, 6" exhaust fan on the ceiling putting a negative in the room and drawing fresh air into the room through a duct at the bottom of the room in the oposite corner from the exhaust, Room is 8x12 inside of a garage but air is being pulled from a window. I don't have good temp control yet so I did have a week of hot days, I ran a little short of cieling room so the plants in the center are kind of close to the light (shouldn't mess up the ones on the outside though).

I have one picture so you can see they just have a bunch of nugs instead of full buds. another picture showing how the white hairs are turning orange (God I hope their not finishing), and another showing a very light white chaulky film on the water leaves, I don't know if this is a clue to something I may be doing wrong. I am a beginner and did one grow prior to this one and the same thing happened, the buds never filled in tight. Any ideas would be great. (Note the very end of the leaf tips on the orange hair picture, you'll notice the very tips are yellow. All the plants aren't doing this).

Thanks

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

Fourteen days and no response. Is this one of those clicky sites where only a select few rate an answer? Says I had 47 reviews without as much as a F#&k you. Oh well, nice site for information but god help you if you need help.

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

How have they been doing over those past two weeks? I'll give my 2 cents if you want... I don't think the light has anything to do with it because it looks like the leaves are loving it in the first picture. The best way to tell if your plant is done isn't by the hair color. I suggest buying a magnifying loop from radioshack or elsewhere and looking at the trichomes. I always start flushing or even cutting when more than 50 percent of the triches are amber (they start out clear, then turn milky, then amber.) As far as the white residue, has it gotten worse? I have had powdery mildew before and it looked similar to that. If someone can back me up on that? If it is that, it will spread like crazy and get all over your buds too, in which you will have to cut it off when trimming. A nice sulfur burn killed it off for me though.

Let me know how they are doing as of now though. From the sounds of it I'm assuming they aren't better since you sound angry.

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

Thanks for responding to this thread, I came to this site for help and felt like no one gave a shit or wanted to help a new grower out. The plants are drying right now (small buds). I pulled the plug, something stopped them in their tracks. The white residue on the leaves is still there but didn't get any worse. There were even spots on some of the stems that looked like salt granules stuck to them. Who knows maybe I OD'ed them on nutrients. I got a TDS meter and had trouble getting the PPM's above 250. I'm getting up there an my eye site sucks when it comes to phone books and small stuff. I asked my son what a little flashing dot was next to the number on my TDS meter and he said "X 10". Needless to say two of the neutrient doses were 2,500 PPM or higher The leaves never turned yellow, just the very tips of the leaves had a tiny, tiny bit of yellow, and not all of them, the leaves looked good and they were going crazy in the veg stage. Pots may have been small (two gallon pots) and I had a real hot week where the temps stayed around 98. They just seemed to stop mid bud. I'm going to try again with some good seed instead of clones I got from someone that didn't even know what they were. I'm going with soil and a couple of test bubble buckets. I am interested in the bubble buckets they sound like they work pretty good. If they do I may become a full fledged bubble head. Thanks again for giving me a response and I'm going to keep trying till I get it down.

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

i guess its too late now but what of your ph levels did you keep them in check?
did you add your dolimite lime to buffer your ph and keep it around 6.5-7 ?
and ideal run off ph test should read for soil around 6.8

didnt read your post till now or i would have replied much earlier
all i can say is check your temps try to go no higher than 80 f they will stop growing if the temps get too high and go for 5 gallon pots atleast i use them and could probly stand to find someting a little bigger if i had the room since roots need alot of space to fill out but diffently 5 gallons is the standard

and keep the ph around 6.8 for soil and hydro i think its 5.8 -6.5 sounds right to me i'm a soil guy myself.

better luck next time around

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

The fact that you vegged your plants for four weeks (from clone) in 2 gallon pots would be my guess of why they stopped progressing. The roots were probably root balling. Search for root balling in the forums if you don't know what that is. I would suggest either getting five gallon buckets, or transplanting the 2 gallon into the five once you flip the lights. The 2500 ppm probably didn't help the case at all either...lol

Home depot homer buckets are the best to grow in. start in solo cups and switch to the bucket when they are about 6 inches tall. you'll be good to go the whole rest of the grow. good luck next time.

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

Thanks for jumping in. H.I. the ph of the soil was just under 7 and the run off water was the same. I didn't use any dolimite lime but he ph seemed pretty good. I was using Sun Gro #4 soil. Marduk they grew like crazy when veging, I thought about the pots but I figured even if the plant couldn't get any larger it would still flower. I just got some bubble gum, northern lights, and big bud seeds and I'm gonna start a mother of each strain. Then I will try again. I am building a cloner with a guide that was in High Times, then I should be ready to F up some more grows , I'm not quitting until I figure it out. Doesn't CO2 work better if temps are around 90 ? I read that somewhere. I might try some of that shit too!

Oh yeah, sorry for getting so bent about no responses. I was kind of in a panic looking for some wisdom. I decided to murder them

I wouldn't try growing when it's around 90. That would just screw up another grow most likely. If you want more CO2 just buy a tank of it and release some of it when the lights are out . Do a successful grow first before you try anything fancy. You will yield plenty just sticking with the basics.

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

Yeah your right. Find something that works good for me then when I'm growing nice plants consistently I can try to improve on that. Isn't it supposed to be a waste of CO2 when the lights are off?

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

Not that I recall, unless I may be wrong. I always thought it was best to release the CO2 once the lights, and everything including the fans are turned off. Then the CO2 will be released and nothing will ventilate it out of the room for the time being. But maybe I'm wrong, seems to work well for me though.

Re: Flowering Slow To Nothing

do not use your co2 at night your wasting it. try and use it 20 mins before the lights come on.your plants actually need more fresh air, less co2 more o2 at night when they are sleeping.
