Crop won't phase into Bloom cycle

I am posting for my friend because he is not online at all. He is growing hydroponically, has for years. What happened is when he moved the plants to the bud cycle, for the first time, nothing happened. It's been 6 weeks, no budding activity. There was no difference in the way he grew this crop and dozend of others before this one. Should he burn the crop and start over? He already, about 2 weeks ago, tried 48 hours of complete darkness. Still nothing...

Your experience and reccomendations will be very much appreciated.

Re: Crop won't phase into Bloom cycle

Ive read a couple of articles about this happening with plant phenos designed for outdoor growing. Dealing with it seems to be strain specific but i would suggest contacting the seed breeder to see what they suggest. Odds are some of theirs did the same thing and i bet they already know what to do. If your just using random bag seed you might try adding more light in the red spectrum(2700k) if your using CFLs. If its an hps its not the problem but if your using CFL's you might not have enough light to spur budding. Your plants might not have enough nutrients to bud really a whole bunch of things. How are you growing them exactly? you said hydro but what kinda light setup is going on here? Also how old are they? if theyre still young(only 6 weeks) Then your just crossing the point when budding really develops. What strain is it?

Re: Crop won't phase into Bloom cycle

1) Crop is being grown hydroponically from cuttings, been using this same strain and method for literally years with no problems.
2) Crop was on 18/6 light cycle for 30 days, till about 28-36 inches in height
3) Crop is on standard hydroponics grow solution - Brownish, Orange & Green (he said you'd know)
4) Growing Solution changed and lights dropped to 12/12 6 weeks ago.
......at the same time as every other crop, this crop simply failed to respond
5) Light type: 1000 watts HPS
6) Strain: Purple Afghanistan
7) There are white pistils, but no other budding activity
8) Plants are also not growing vertically either.

Remember... he already tried to shock them by giving them 48 hours of total darkness, he said that may have failed because he discovered there was a thin sliver of light.
