desperate stem help!

Ok so my sprout is messed up. It's about 1 1/2 weeks old. The plant was doing just fine in my apartment then had unexpected visit from landlord at night to fix things i had been complaining about in the place. So i put it on my balcony for the night because I had no other option. It's not cold in my area so i figured it would be alright. I checked once he had left (a good 4-5 hours) and the sprout fell over so that the leaves were touching the dirt. When i went to examine it, i saw that at the base right where the stem was protruding from the soil, the stem was extremely skinny for about a quarter inch. it looked as if the stem was twisted. As a result it couldn't support it self at all and its not grown enough to tie it to something. So I just filled the pot up with dirt up until the leaves. Its been like that for 3-4 days and i went to just see if it had repaired itself and it was the opposite. The skinny twisted part had grown in length and went all the up to where dirt surface was, so needless to say it REALLY cant support itself. I don't understand why its not fixing itself, even when i have a fan blowing over it as well. Please help, Thanks!

Re: desperate stem help!

You should try to make some kind of splint to hold it up, maybe out of a toothpick. I've done it before with great success, just be careful.

Re: desperate stem help!

well is it normal that the whole stem is so skinny that its like string that will turn and bend in any type of way and that the slightest touch will tear it, let alone tying to something. I feel like it wont repair itself at all...

Re: desperate stem help!

my opinion is theres too much water in the soil, you need to let it dry out a little longer before watering again, it sounds like the stems next step is rott. But im not sure since theres no pics, just stating my point of view, greetz -syze-
