How about a deficiency thread?

Signs and warnings about your plants nutrient deficiency can be vital in certain times of the process so lets gather all the info we can together and put it all here:

POTASSIUM (K): Mobile Optimum pH: 4.5-7.0
General - Carbohydrate metabolism, increases resistance to diseases.
Deficiency - Scorching on margins and tips of older leaves, chlorosis, small root systems, low yields. (Rare in FLA)
*Add Potassium chloride (KCl)

CALCIUM (Ca): Immobile Optimum pH: 6.5-7.5
General - Essential to cell walls, promotes root growth and formation
Deficiency - (Rare in FLA) New leaves small, stunted, curled, distorted, with necrotic spots; roots stubby and brown; fruit cracked with pits, blossom end rot, bitter pit, cork spot, etc.
*Add Limestone *Will increase soil pH
Toxicity - Near sidewalks (high Ca from the Lime in the cement)

MAGNESIUM (Mg): Mobile Optimum pH: 4.5-6.5
General - Photosynthesis
      • High leaching in sandy soils and in organic matter
      • Often need to supplement in Floriculture crops and Palms
Deficiency - Interveinal chlorosis, slender and weak stems, on Palms: yellowing of older leaves begins at base and spreads to tip.
*Add Epsom Salts (MgSO4 ), adjust pH
Toxicity - High Mg = Low K, Ca

MANGANESE (Mn): Immobile Optimum pH: 5.0-6.5
(@7.0 becomes fixed)
General - Metabolic processes
      • Often lacking in alkaline soils and sandy soils
Deficiency - In ornamentals: Interveinal chlorosis starting near leaf margins (similar to Fe deficiency), then turning into necrotic spots.
      • In palms: Frizzle-top of new growth (Esp. Queen Palms)
*Add MnSO4,, or chelated Mn

ZINC (Zn):
Immobile Optimum pH: 5.0-7.0
General - Plant growth
      • Easily leached from sandy soil
Deficiency - Stunting, “little leaf”, “rosette”, interveinal chlorosis similar to Mn – sometimes almost white.
      • On citrus: leaves are small and mottled
      • Also commonly on: Jasmine, Ilex, Avocado, Pecan
*Foliar applications of Z9inc chelate the best

MOLYBDENUM (Mo):
Immobile Optimum pH: 7.0-10.0
General - Enzyme and vitamin synthesis, seed development
Deficiency - New leaves pale green with rolled or cupped margins, older leaves interveinal chlorosis or mottled
      • On Citrus: yellow spots
      • On Hibiscus: “strap leaf’, “whip tail” (similar to 2,4-D damage)
      • On other crops: leaves rough, thick, wrinkled
*Dust seeds
*Foliar spray with Sodium molybdate (NaMo4)

COPPER (Cu): Optimum pH: 5.0-7.0
General - Growth and enzyme activity

If anyone has any other deficiencies or anything to add please help out!
