severe yellowing of leafs

this last week my bigger plants are having this problem of leafs yellowing, first started from the bigger leafs at the bottom & now its progressing rapidly to others. I'm fertilising twice a week at 1/4 strength. i'll take some pics at sunset

Re: severe yellowing of leafs

the only we can help diagnose your problem is with pics, sounds like nitrogen def, 1/4 strength???? how small are they, i blast full strength after 4 weeks, get those pics, and we will see if we can find that magic wand

Re: severe yellowing of leafs

If it does come down to a nute deficieny problem DO NOT start giving your plants full strength nutes. Strains react differently to nutes. Some strains will take full strength. With another strain you could put your plant into nute lockout, which is a lot bigger problem. Switch to half strength at first, adding GRADUALLY til you find a good concentrate.

Re: severe yellowing of leafs

im 100% positive it is nitrogen deficiency. they are about 2 1/2 months old, i'm giving 1/4 strength because they just got through nutrient lockout. it happened when i switched to full strength & the only conclusion i got is that it happened because the fert contains a good percentage of ammonium nitrogen that when used in great ammount it can block the plant from absorbing nutes.

today im supposed to fertilize, so do you think i should switch to 1/2 strength?? and if so do i still have to fertilized twice a week or go down to once a week

You could stay at quarter strength and just increase the number of feedings as opposed to raising nutrient levels. There is a much smaller chance of lockout.

Re: severe yellowing of leafs

You have a calcium def. Not nitrogen. They are turning white not yellow, still green in the veins. You also have nutrient burn on the over leaves. Crisp ends and browning spots. Or its K def. but i dont think so. What kind of lights do you have them under?
Keep'em burnin

the burned tips got from a k deficieny because of nute lockout but now its gone after i flushed it last week.
its outdoor so natural light
how can i fix a calcium deficiency? i am collecting eggshells for next year soil mix since they contain calcium, can i use it to make some sort of fertilizer?

Re: severe yellowing of leafs

look under the leaves, you might find spider mites. That is a sign, they start eating the bottom leaves first, then they go up... They can only be found under the leaf, never on top. I had same problem, and spider mites were the cause. Might not be in your case, but LOOK UNDER.

I found hundreds of eggs and mites... Even all looked superb in first 3 weeks...

Re: severe yellowing of leafs

i checked under the laefs and no sign of spider mites or other type of insect.
i have a bottle which is supposed to have lots of vitamins, micro nutes & trace elements, will try it with the next watering and see if something will change

Plagron Phyt-amin

anyone ever used it and what do you think?

Wouldnt know about the Epsom salts, would stick with the plagron stuff you got if it has the trace elements in it, should do the trick and quickly if it is a liquid.
