I'm losing plants to "Damping Off" Any tips?

I've been losing a few plants to what I think is Damping Off. the roots are roting right at the soil line. I use rockwool and I was recommended spraying them with baking soda and ph up to kill the fungus. Any tips or suggestions from experience? What might kill this fungus and save my plants?

Do you pre soak your rookwool? In a PH'd water of 4.5-5.5 for atleast a couple of hours? Is the RW cube holding to much water? Thats ben most of my earlier prob's. They will hold about 18% water at all times. On a scale my 1.5" cube was @ 45g ready for seed or clone. After that i just went by feel of cube. Do u have a fan gently blowing over them? Hope that help's ya

I heard sprinkling cinnamon on the surface of the soil will kill the "damping off" fungus.

Get more oxygen and less water to the rootzone. IF your damping off then the first obvious step is to water less. You can dabble all you want with home remedies that kill the "damping off fungus" but are you certain it is for sure fungus? I noticed you said soil line, are you growing in soil or rockwool? or are you starting in rockwool and moving to soil?

Peroxide is generally a decent temporary fix, but more importantly you need to find the source of the problem. So for now try giving some peroxide to give the roots a little CPR then work through the factors you have going.

How do I apply the peroxide? I'm growing in rockwool. Right at the bottom the stem is roting.

How are your roots doing? often necrosis from the bottom has started in the roots. About how often is it happening to your plants? What kind of setup are you running?

Re: I'm losing plants to "Damping Off" Any tips?

I had a severe damping off problem in my first and second attempt to grow, I toiled and toiled about the problem; changed different properties and tried everything. Well, I thought everything the last thing I could think of was that the water I was using was contaminated! The answer: it was.

I then changed from using my tap water to using some bottled water and hey presto! my new seedlings are doing brilliantly and I have no longer got a problem with damping off, I suggest switching the water you are using, however make sure you check the PH level of the water before you start to feed.

Peace.

im only replying to point out a lil info on the peroxide use. it does more harm then good.

it may help rid you of a nasty fungus or bacteria but it is anything but temporary especially in hydro systems. Peroxide does kill off 99% bacteria, but what you dont know is it also kills 99% of the GOOD bacteria that is the plants defense against the bad bacteria. Ive heard that very conservative use is "OK", but its not, once you start useing peroxide you must continue to use it to keep the bad bacteria away since youve already killed off the good bacteria that keeps the bad stuff away. just some food for thought before you voluntarily kill your plants
