Germinating Problem! HELP PLEASE!

Okay, I already have 4 plants under lights growing. BUT I have had these germinating for a week or so now and they're in a tupperware thing between damp/wet paper towels. I have had them on a heating pad with a thin jacket between the heating pad and the tupperware thing just so they don't get too hot. Most of them have a small root tip showing but nothing that would make me want to plant them. For now I have them in a cooler place and I have been making sure they're damp and stuff... I'm just kind of stumped on why they're not going a little faster, my first ones germinated a little faster than this within 48 hours( i think). Could someone please help me do this... I mean, should I go ahead and plant them in my SOLO cups with a plastic bag over them with the soil moist OR just keep them like they are until the root tip pops a little more.



the root tip is out a little bit more than the picture shows.

please help me.

oh my.

first of all. too much water in the germ tray. secondly, unless you live in iceland, you do not need to heat your seeds. average room temps of 75-78 degrees will be fine.

lastly to answer your question the taproot should be a little longer than that to plant.
wait about 18-24 more hours.

i have also rotted/ killed seeds by drowning them so i would definately take the advice

3 damp paper towels on a plate, lay your seeds down after being soaked for 24 hours and cover with 3 more paper towels put in a dark place and mist once or twice a day in 3-5 days they should have germinated. You have too much water as of right now though, keep them moist but no standing water, tip your plate to the side, the towels should stay in place but just hold it tight so no seeds run and let the excess water drain off into the sink.

Why do you use papertowels?

Do you want to increase chances damaging the root and/or increase chances for mold?

Why don't you do as nature intended, soak them in tempered water for 24 to 36 hours and them stick them pointy end down in to the substrate you are going to use.

Doing so couldn't be any worse.

You WILL damage the fine hairs on the tap root, potentially mutilating the plant and delaying growth.

welllll. I'm just going to plant the best ones... and I've used this method before and it's worked for me... so that's how i do it. Do i soak them until they drop to the bottom? is distilled water what should be used?

Maybe you shouldn't ask for "HELP PLEASE" if you already know how to do what.

Right... I was asking because I was having trouble with it. ANYWAY. these next seeds I decided to soak them in distilled water and then put them between paper towels.
