Should I leave it alone, trim it off, start over with the knowledge I have now? what do I do I checked and its not a fragment of the seed case, its just a part of the leaf that looks less than healthy, but the rest of the plant is the best work I have ever done, halogen and all! haha
Did you ever find out what that hard part of your plant was and did it survive the "melting"

You can go as close as 2 inches if you have a fan blowing on it. The gauge is to put your hand between the plant and the light. As long as your hand is fine, so is the plant. Get it as close as possible using this method. Stretching is when the plant will grow lanky, charlie brown Christmas tree-like. This happens when the light is too far away.

Good luck!!
