Are you flushing during the vegging or flowering cycle? If this is for the final week of bloom, you should not be adding any nutrients, unless it's at an extremely low level. If it's in between weeks of a cycle, it's better to flush the plants out and then add new nutrient solution. The reason for this, is the nutrients you flushed out of the medium are now in the nutrient solution you are feeding them. This throws off the NPK value of the nutrient solution, which might cause a problem. The best way to flush a plant in between feedings is to water the plant from the top of the container, with a gallon or two of fresh water (preferable R/O or distilled water). Then make up a new reservoir and feed as usual.

| Registered User | Re: flushing question ok so i am doing a dwc setup, heres pic new pics 045.jpg. the back row right now has i believe a nute burn or ph problem. To switch out the reservoirs i have back ups of each tub and just fill accordingly and switch the lids. I did a flush by making a tub full of tap water with a slightly high ph (8.3) and a pretty low ppm of 65. I then just took the lid and put the plants in that water after i adjusted the ph to 5.7. After a day I added full strength nuts. the plants dont look any heathier and i dont know if i should just make a new res again tonight. I am using a formula i found online called the lucas formula which can be found here. the ppm jumped to about 750ppm after the nuts were added, and the ph was adjusted to 5.7 again. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the scattered thoughts im wicked baked lol oh and i thought i would just give some specs, temps min74f max82f, 400 watt mh, 18/6 about 22 inches away so lights doesn't hurt the babies Last edited by lrn2board; 07-01-2009 at 11:40 PM. |

If the plants were stressed and are having trouble coming back you can give them a B vitamin to speed the healing process. Try to keep the pH as stable as possible and not flush with high or low pH water. Keep it around 5.6-5.8. 750ppm is too low for HID light... The formula is 0-8-16 for HID light which should come out to around 1000 ppm on a .5 TDS meter or 1400 on a .7 meter. I would recommend reading the "ask lucas" thread that's on the internet. It will answer every question you could possibly ever have.
