Yellowing, curling leaves

I have a bagseed project, I noticed this problem after I transplanted her to a bigger container. Bottom leaves have yellowed, and begun to curl, new growth is starting to yellow at the tips, anyone have any idea what the problem is?
1. Medium= soil
2. organic germination/growing soil
3. indoor
4. bagseed
5. 2 weeks old
6. 2 26 watt daylight CFLs, 3 26 watt CFL soft white
7. Daylights are directly above the plant, 3 inches or so high, soft whites away and to the side
8. I Water her when my pinky finger comes out of the soil dry, probably every 3 days or more, water source is from faucet (lake/mt spring source [New Hampshire]), I let it sit before I water, not sure of PH yet
9. Haven't fed her food yet
10. Temp ranges from 80-88 F, Humidity between 40 and 60%
11. Container is 8"

I've kept the lights on 24 hrs, it's only been 2 weeks. Is it just shock from the transplant? Should I be more careful with my water source? Any help is muuuch appreciated, thanks!

Re: Yellowing, curling leaves

okay not 100 percent here so i would keep researching and asking peer advice. however your undergrowth will yellow out eventually but thats when its in flowering stages of growth. could also have to do with you soil. i grew my current harvest all the way through growth with mainly flowering CFLs however a week before flowering i had a veging bulb also. seems also like alot of light for one plant. 100watts to 1 plant and 30-40watts per additional plant if there are more then one. ive never personally had an issue like that but the signs of curling and yellow discolor are usually sum^^^ of the problems above and this advice is to the best of my knowledge not researched before i posted however ive had 4 harvests now and alota research prior but those are my first guess Good LucK

Well the other cool white lights are on other plants, they aren't focused on this plant. Thanks for the reply, I'm still researching what could be wrong myself.

I'll change the position of the lights and see how they do.

Re: Yellowing, curling leaves

It's very hot for the plant at the temperature range you posted. You would need a lot of CO2 supplimentation for the plant to respond to an environment that hot.

You need to do two things- the most important thing being getting an occilating fan blowing on the plant during the light cycle. Make sure the plant is moving a bit in the wind.

The second thing you need to do is focus on getting the temperture under control (75-80) or get a CO2 tank. Still then, you won't want the temperature getting over 85.

75-80 is optimal temperature without co2, but with co2 you can have a temperature of 78-85 degrees. You need to have a fan cooling off the leaves with wind though. That is the most important part when you are controlling the temperature if you want the plant to be problem-free.

Your water source should be fine. I think your plant cannot uptake nutrients because of the heat and the amount of light it is getting. You may want to go 18/6 to give it a break, although if you can get the temperature under control 24 hours of light is the best I've used for growth.

I do have a fan blowing on it all the time, I will try to lower the temperature as there is no CO2 supplimentation and I want to keep the lights on 24 hrs. Thanks for the tips.

Re: Yellowing, curling leaves

Is it an occilating fan? If you have a fan blowing on it all the time it will dry out the leaves and cause the same type of issue you are talking about.

The environment is the most important thing in the book though. Get the temperature down and the amount of wind it's getting right and stand back. You'll get growth and flowers like you've never even dreamed.

If you are having a lot of trouble controlling the temps, it would be better for you to go 18/6. If the plant cannot grow in the light because of high temps, you are just wasting it. Period.

Re: Yellowing, curling leaves

not an oscilating fan, it is a small circular fan, I'm at home alot so I'll try limiting its use. I just rearrange the lights, if I don't get the temperature down tonight, I'll switch my timer on to 18/6.

Re: Yellowing, curling leaves

An occilating fan will seriously help things out a lot. I would try to find one as soon as possible, because without a cycle timer on that axial (circular) fan the plant will heat up and it might even be worse than always having a fan on it. You will be amazed how much better they will do with a lot of wind that isn't constantly blowing on them.

If that smaller fan is placed blowing up from the bottom and an occilating fan is blowing on the plant, that is where you'll see your plant take off if you can get the temperature right.

Re: Yellowing, curling leaves

The changes I made dropped the temperature to about 77/78, I have the fan facing away from the plant now, trying to suck the warm air out. She looks better already, I'll be sure to buy an oscilating fan this weekend, thanks for all the help!
