Spider Mites

I just finished my second try at growing. Again, right at flowering I believe I was infested with spider mites. Notice the white spots on the leaveshad to harvest before its time to save what I had. I have tried Pyola insecticide and vodka/water wash with mixed results. Both times I was infested it was right at maturing time. I am hesitant to use chlorine wash because it may kill the plant. I have washed the grow room down with bleach but now one of the babies hs started getting silk on them. Any ideas on a permanent solution out there?

Re: Spider Mites

either Ortho pest strip or Hot shot pest strip(give off an odorless insecticide that is harmless to plants) both look identical, just open package and hang in your room all bugs will die and it good for 4months...

On top of that i use Safer Endall and i spray that every 2-3days....to erraticate their cycle.....keep your room cooler and it will slow them down, and a FAn under the plants to make it windy for the bastards.........

thats all my knowledge..

Re: Spider Mites

you need to bomb you house and grow room, then do it again. Neem once a week for prevention, dont let your friends or animals in room, dont go in other peoples grows, if you do DONT wear those clothes in your room until washed. If that doesn't work try Napom

Re: Spider Mites

Thanks for the info. Going to find out where I can get the pest strips. Bombing the house is out of the question because of pets and teenagers already infesting the house. Grow room was originally started in my sons room and after I caught him at it, I wanted to show him how to do it right (like joining a forum and learning from experts) I will chlorox the room again, use the strips and put one in his closet just in case there are eggs around.

Re: Spider Mites

My guru warned me long ago about the pest strips, saying that smoking the plants without washing them off first would not be a good idea. I prefered using pyrethrin and azadactrin mixed together weekly. Will kill anything and everything while not needing to be rinsed off. I would recommend rinsing them with some r/o water before harvest anyways because of dust though.

Spider mites are a bitch of a pest...

Re: Spider Mites

If you can find this product Monterey Garden Insect Spray (Spinosad), and treat your plants weekly, you can bring infestations under control. It is organic, and works best on mites with a wetting agent (like Agri2, Wet Betty, or DM's Penetrator) or you can use dish soap.(for a wetting agent) It contains a compound called Spinosad, which is a bacteria that colonizes on the plant and kills all kinds of pests.

Re: Spider Mites

hey all i am pretty sure i have mites also. i have the yellow white specks on a few leaves and it has gotten worse. So i plan to order some organic insect killer, but in the mean time i had heard a solution of 1 spoonfull of bleach to 1 gallon of warm water will work if sprayed on the leaves , does anyone know this works?

Re: Spider Mites

I use Azatrol and have no buggies at all. I used to have mites and gnats. Letting soil dry more plus mighty poison saved the grow. Lost a 30" female bubba kush in the war tho.
