treating deficiencies ?

this is more of a general question, but..

as soon as you recognize a deficiency, do you treat the problem immediately or wait until next watering? i'm asking because i dont want to get root rot on my plants and they were watered barely 2 days ago... i found out i was not giving them enough Nitrogen and they are looking really ugly and sick right now. should i wait 5-6 more days until their next feeding schedule or feed them right away with the proper dosage? i just dont want to make problems any worse than they are right now.

If the soil is wet certainly wait before adding nutrient water to it. Also taking a few days gives you more time to make sure you don't mis diagnose the plants.
